Just looked at Wikipedia entry for Gary Klein...
" In recent years, Gary Klein has shifted his focus to manufacturing telescopes"
If that is true, that is a radical departure from his previous passion.

I made optics for him.

If an old (80s) steel frame takes a 25.5mm seatpost, any idea what it could be made from?
-
• #16355
Gas pipe.
(28.6-25.5)/2 = 1.55mm wall thickness. More likely it's supposed to be 25.4, that would make the wall 16g, a common size for mild steel tubing.

Yeah, even crappy Peugeot and Raleigh High Tensile PG tubes are thinner walled than that, and the heavy butted Tange sets were only about 1.2mm thick at the ends. Shine a torch down it, you'll probably see the seam, as it's unlikely even to be seamless drawn tube at that guage.

bugger... thanks though.

Do I want to work in the Manor Park area? Is sounds nice, like a country manor and a country park rolled into one, but google street view assures me otherwise. Need some local knowledge please.

What is the difference between unlawful and illegal?

Right. You know those greetings cards you can get that when you open them, they play shit songs? Is it possible to programme your own songs? Or is there a site/service that will do this for you? I want one that plays keyboard cat. Oh and there's a catch. I'm supposed to be on holiday right now but clearly still finding time for inane questions on the forum. Back on the 11th then away the following week for work and I'd need this done if it's even possible for the first week of September. Someone google it for me. Pleeeeeeease.

You can buy the sound modules for a couple of quid on Ebay.
Otherwise go to Conrad electronics for a more reliable, expensive package that is easer to put into a card.Thank you both :) shall check in an Internet cafe tomorrow. Phone wifi is extraordinarily slow.
Right, back now and rather than concentrate on things like finding a new job I'm looking into this again.
These options seem great - the only issue is that they seem to allow for 10 seconds recording max. I wonder if there's a way you can easily tamper with it to increase the recording/playback time?

Think about the exact opposite to either "manor" or "park".

I've seen people cycling, and pushing a second bike alongside - if I try it will it all end badly?

If you've not confirmed either way by tomorrow, we'll assume it has

Can anyone recommend a book that gives a good overview of political philosophies (if that's the right word) but isn't too hard going? Something that outlines differences between anarchism, communism, conservatism etc. but then goes into some detial on say marxist-leninism and trotskyism for example. i.e. all the big ones and their off shoots.
Any ideas?

One got an extra letter in it.

I got this off the internet so might be utter crap but it makes sense to me (but then again so does Nyan Cat)
Illegal - An act is illegal when it breaks the criminal law.
Unlawful - A breach of the law that allows civil proceedings to be brought. Does not involve a breach of criminal law.
*Penguin guide to UK law.

^^^Hegemony and Socialist Strategy - Ernesto Laclau & Chantal Mouffe.
Not a round-up but one of the most important political-philosophical works of recent times. Very hard though.

Don't ride too fast and be prepared for the bike to have a spaz attack when you're going over bumps. When riding over a couple of bumps I found that the front wheel of the other bike would get a mind of its own and if you didn't correct it in time then you'd end up dragging the bike along on it's side. The only way I found I could bring it back under control was to lift the front wheel off the floor for a second then carry on as before.

hmm. the second bike doesn't drag you over sideways when it does that though? that's what I'm worried about. my bike is heavy and fairly stable and the second bike is a child size racer (though too big to carry), so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm assuming holding the stem of the second bike is more sensible than holding the saddle? I've seen both.

Unlawful Sexual Intercourse is a breach of criminal law. The words are pretty much interchangeable

put hand through frame, balance bike on forearms hold handlebars of other bike and ride off like a boss

pics or it didn't happen

I didn't find that the other bike affected my handling really. Riding a little slower and taking a bit more care to do most things but the hardest part was going over bumps. I always hold onto the stem, that way you can correct the front wheel if it does turn.
When I was doing it I had a large rucsac, polo mallets hanging out of the bag, both bikes were FG and I was riding during rush hour. You should be fine.

Would I be safe to say that it's not as accessible as an Andy McNabb novel then?
Thanks though, I'll keep it in mind for when I want more detail. It's just that someone was chattign about various different communist theories and I didn't have a clue about the differences and I wondered whether the right (and others) have the same sort of differing political theory (and then if any one could explain them - preferably in picture form).

^^ cool. going to pick up the little bike, and it's a bit too far to walk, so I'll give it a go.
I bet Trek ironed that out pretty quick!
