I'd go the other way on that- buy from Halfords still in the box, take it to a competant mechanic to build it.

how is it that a sealed bearing cups bottom bracket makes a clicking noise when dirty / needing a re-grease? i just can't understand what could make the clicking noise
-
• #13631
If its sealed you can't regrease it, it needs replacing. The noise is bits of grit/bits of the bearing getting in the way when it turns. Probably both.

you would imagine the clicking is grit in the bearings but in my experience, taking such a bb out, cleaning everything (except for the sealed bearings which obviouly you can't get to) and replacing stops the noises - i've cleaned out loads of sealed cup bbs like that when they've been noisy but it makes no sense...hence the question.

Without replacing the old bearings? I think thats the crank bolts needing a tighten then.

I've cleaned and re-greased sealed bearings before. You just have to be very careful pulling the seal off. Worth it on an mtb as water seeps in past seals easier than you'd think.

What's the best way to get rid of flys? Our front garden is basically just farmers fields and they seem to be attracted to the house. I don't like spraying Raid everywhere, is it the only choice?

Yeah I saw one in a gallery at the weekend that was all jade and shit.
Matts gonna text me when he gets off the train in town then i'm gonna go down to the bike foundry.....may leave any second, you never know...
As with anything from halfords just make sure everything is fitted properly when you purchase the bike. Apart from that they are great bikes.
