you can't see it in the pic but it's got a little bit sticking out the side to stick in the outer cable and wiggle around incase it gets crimped a bit when cutting.edit- better pic

I've cut loads with mine. If it makes any difference mine are the red ones like in that second picture.

Andy- happy to go for the Park, they are a useful tenner cheaper.
Have you used both the Park and the Shimano?

Well, it might be user error.
They did used to work, so I suspect they have got a bit tired.

If all your belongings will fit into a large taxi then you might as well just find someone who has a car. Ask xander, pay him with morphine.
Xander's car is just like his cock.
You'd need something bigger (I'm busy on Saturday, sorry).

Just the Park ones, but they are very good.

Or another choice?
I cut Campagnolo outers with it. Bit of a lucky dip, these ones.

• #10613
do both inners and outers at da same time, no messin'!

+1
In fairness I haven't used the Shimano ones either but it's tough to imagine how they could be any better than my Park ones (unless they put the kettle on whilst you snip?)...

i use my teeth, you lot need to htfu
-
• #10616
I'm sure if you cut the cable with the upper handle just above the switch on the kettle you could probably do it.

Ordered the Park ones from Total Cycling as they also had the specific Campag brake pads that I needed.
Hopefully they won't do what they did last time and wait three days to tell me they did not have what I ordered.

it's all about keeping the air turbulent as it passes over your frame. Fluid dynamics innit.
Avoiding boundary layer separation which is easier with turbulent flow than laminar, innit.
-
• #10619
exactly, cos it causes friction and shit
-
• #10620
I just use my Dremel. Seems to do the job nicely.
-
• #10621
friction... maybe, sorta, not really; shit - definitely. all that turbulent shit.

• #10622
you know what I mean

For cables? I had wondered about doing that as I have been using the dremel to do a few bits and bobs.
Which cutting tool do you use?
-
• #10624
that reminds me, I need new dremel bits.
-
• #10625
a dremel is fine for cutting cables, inners and outers
I'm an idiot, I spent a small sum on decent cables, and forgot to order decent cable cutters.
My current cutters can only bludgeon the new cable outer, not cut it.
So:
Shimano SIS Cable Cutters, £45.08 from Ribble
Or the Park Tools Pro Cutters, £33.29 at Wiggle
Or another choice?
