SRAM 11 speed - I've got 10 speed GX at the mo - would i need a new wheelset, mech, shifters and cassette?
Or just shifters and cassette? -
• #104153
Shifters, mech, cassette and chain. Wheels should be okay, but worth checking as not all 10 speed freehubs can accommodate an 11 speed cassette.

I’ve got to buy a square taper bottom bracket for the first time in forever and I have no idea what I’m doing.
I have a pair of exage 300 triple cranks (FC-M520) on their way. As far as I can understand, according to Good old Sheldon brown I should be aiming for 121mm spindle length, in JIS, the bottom bracket shell on the frame set (a Giant Granite) I haven’t measured to be sure but I assume it’s 68mm.
Can anyone confirm I’m reading this all correctly? And how can I be sure the 175mm cranks won’t foul the chainstays?

These m6 bolts with the fancy tapered hex ends - what are they called? Off a saddle clamp if that helps.

Sheldonbrown says 118mm for M520, which sounds about right to me.
Unless you have a very wide bike, crank clearance is not going to be your problem, usually the limiting factor on cranks like that will be clearing the middle ring

Thanks

So it does, I was reading the wrong line then, thanks!
Hopefully chainring clearance shouldn’t be too much of a problem as it’ll be getting a 1x set up with a Narrow wide chainring and I’ll likely go for something with a pretty low tooth count.

Where can I find out about very cheap laptops? My partner wants to pay about £250. Only used for internet, emails, light wp, photo storage (but not editing). Any suggestions?

I picked up an Asus (can't remember the model) for around £150.00 in January of this year. Running the most recent Windows OS. I think it came from John Lewis. TBF I think it has been switched on no more than half a dozen times since I've had it - (I'm more Mac inclined, I bought this to do a specific job - which I've not really been doing). Would buy again.
ETA - Model E203M
ETFA - Looking at JLP's website, all their prices appear to have been bumped up since January - but you should be able to pick up something in your price range.
ET - Go on about it....
If you buy from JLP you've the option of extended warranty - which gives some peace of mind when buying entry-level stuffs. -

Why do the people of Britain refer to the fish meal as "Sea Bass"?
-
• #104169
To differentiate from other bass, not just uk
-
• #104170
All of your bass are belong to us.
Someone had to do it.
-
• #104171
But in the UK there are no other bass available to catch or eat than that which lives in the sea. The sea in the name is superfluous.

Tbh the sea bass available here isn't local, it could be any bass
Ah, right; the rollerbrake bikes I've got came with them already installed. IIRC the rollerbrake fits directly onto the splines on the hub; the fixing washer then goes on top of that, with the NTW and cap nut tightening down on that fixing washer. Sheldon just says the various washers are for different hubs, but the Shimano techdocs are silent on the matter. I think it depends on the frame spacing and the OLD of the hub you're going to use - it looks like the Nexus hubs have OLDs from 127 to 135mm, as per this chart via Sheldon: https://web.archive.org/web/20130925001938/http://www.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/tech_support/tech_tips.download.-Par50lparsys-0015-downloadFile.html/08%29%20Hub%20Dimensions.pdf
