Well, all dreams are sex, death, fear.
So you, and only you, truly know the answer.

Yeah, its not like there are any global incidents which might be effecting a mail-order bushiness ability to function right now ... I guess they should be stuffing all their workers together like Amazon to make sure customers don't have to wait a few days for things

That's very true- after all, this global pandemic sprang out of nowhere on Monday. Oh, wait.

I guess they should be stuffing all their workers together like Amazon to make sure customers don't have to wait a few days for things
Or just, you know - not be shit. I think there's probably a tiny space between "shit" and "Amazon" that could be occupied.

• #102606
I think your definition of shit and mine vary wildly

But you said
I order quite a lot of bike parts, and SJS is absolutely, positively, the last place I'll order from unless I'm (very much) not in a hurry, as it often takes them days to dispatch stuff.
So were you in a hurry or not?

• #102608
It was a wet dream and you came second

I've been in logistics and fulfilment for a quarter of a century. In that time, it has been confirmed over and over again that the people who moan most about how long it takes to get something delivered are the ones who cocked up most egregiously by not planning for what they would need to complete a project.
Dammit isn't angry with SJSC, he's angry with himself. -

If it's sram exact actuation yes, otherwise no

I would love to bang Tim Henman on a fast boat so that checks out.
-

On a separate note. I would like to send some traditional, English old man beers for a friend in Slovakia. What's the easiest way to do that? Buy some beers locally, package them up really really well and pop them in the post?

So were you in a hurry or not?
I allowed my better judgement to be clouded momentarily. Plus they were the only UK option that I could find.
-
• #102614
I sympathise. A bit.
Also, it is just a shim, not blood for transfusion.
As someone who works in a fulfilment role of a vaguely non-esential product, life hasn't been great lately.
I only posted because it seemed a tad unfair and contrary to my experience.

• #102615
Lol what a baby. SJS are great.
-
• #102616
Errr... I offered, had it in an envelope and was waiting for your PM. Guess I'll just return it to the parts drawer then.

I found two at the workshop earlier but figured you'd taken beagle's offer. As for SJS being shit, I imagine they were operating at just about capacity before lockdown to keep things ticking along nicely for the amount of demand they expect, the amount of stock they keep and the amount of people they have to work there, since then there has been a surge in demand, trouble keeping current staff either at work, or working safely and difficulty getting more staff to meet the increased demand. Getting pissy because you have to wait a bit from a relatively small business in troubled times because you've gotten used to next day convenience from big companies throwing money at everything except staff in normal times can fuck off.

Part of my old job was getting stuff to Australia for photoshoots/film premieres/Very Important Occasions/etc and I frequently heard 'It has to arrive tomorrow!!!' from panicking stylists, to which my response was usually, 'in Australia it already is tomorrow'.

I am not OP, but by golly you’re right.

Last night I dreamt that I witnessed Tim Henman setting a water speed record in a very fast boat. What is my subconscious trying to tell me?
Well, all dreams are sex, death, fear.
So you, and only you, truly know the answer"Cum on Tim!"
-
• #102622
The speedboat represents a situation you are not in control of/actions without consequences. Tim is the boring/staid you. Reads like a howling mid-life crisis, but you’ve already joined LFGSS. Some other change on the way?
I’d buy the beer myself and wrap/pack cross fingers/hold my nose and send by Hermes.
