  • afternoon-just one silly question,
I was looking on the stuck seatpost threads and saw one solution is caustic soda-
a the risk of sounding an eeedjit - does that strip the paint/damage the frame?

    cHEERS )

  • What can I use to get the stickers off my R500's with out damaging the rims?
Just tried to take of off and the plastic front of the sticker came off leaving the torn logo behind. Looks awful and the is stuck on ridiculously well

  • Giving it a quick blast with a hairdryer might loosen them up a bit.

  • brake cables, what is the best stuff to grease them???

Butt Grease, run the length of the cable between freshly exercised buttocks.

  • what is the meaning of life?

Soak the area in lighter fluid from the newsagents - a hot hairdryer is good too.

  • what is the meaning of life?

Life has no meaning as such (other than any meaning you might want to personally ascribe it) - the question is a category error, a little like asking what is the weight of the colour green or is a coin together ?

  • Cats are not dogs.

  • And no editing can make them dogs.

  • Green is heavy.

Yes, give them a blast with a hairdryer after exercise to loosen them up a bit, then go at the cable with them.

  • Cats are not dogs.

I had the change that one as I came to the same (non-categorical error-ish) conclusion!

  • Green is heavy.

I am telling Noam Chomsky, you are going to get into trouble with him.

I just tried isopropanol which didn't even touch them. I don't know that this would be much better.

Giving it a quick blast with a hairdryer might loosen them up a bit.

I'll have to see if I even own a hairdryer first.

Any other suggestions? I haven't even managed to get a whole sticker off yet and i've already gone through three whole tins of this:

I'm currently using a piece of plastic to try and scrape them off in 5mm pieces.

    is silicone spray any good???

Wipe them down with gt85. It's best to keep them clean and dry - grease attracts dirt

I use a teflon spray as well. Works like a charm.

If I pour lighter fluid into the back of a hairdryer will it work like a flamethrower?

  • I don't have a hairdryer, only a heatgun, which is going no where near my wheels.

  • I have a hairdryer, but no oven.

  • you can still do cheese on toast then

  • What can I use to get the stickers off?

    Sticky Stuff Remover

Your life will be surprisingly easier if you are soaking the area with lighter fluid (on a cloth or tissue).

  • Pop the tyre off and use a mix of heat gun and spirits. You don't want spirits on your tyres anyway and a heat gun isn't hot enough to warp the rim. I would offer yo some of my tar&adhesive remover if you weren't so far away and I could find it.

  • a heat gun isn't hot enough to warp the rim . . .

    . . . but burn/bubble/lift/mark the paint ?

    (that's a question).

  • its not the residue i'm struggling to get off its the actual sticker. it appears to be made in two parts a clear soft film front that easily comes off and the actual sticker underneath that appears to be glued on with pure hatred. if you manage to get a little edge up and pull, it rips almost instantly. I think its so hard and thin I think i'm just going to have to take the wheels off and sit in front of the TV scraping away slowly.
