• The Bodywise lunchtime classes are on sabbatical from the end of this week as they are sadly having to change premises again.

• I've been doing Rebecca's latest class and it is great, some positions are challenging, but immediately after you can feel the difference in your legs and posture.

Would recommend to any and everyone..

• Ah, bugger. I hope they find somewhere. :(

• is anyone doing the Pullens Yard sessions?
just a bit of an early start for me, but wondering what uptake is like, if indeed they happened...

• The latest course info from Rebecca:

Greetings yogis, cyclists and friends,

I hope this finds you feeling healthy and content despite a reluctant Spring!

Just a quick update for now:

Yoga for Cyclists in Elephant & Castle

A 6 week course beginning 1st May (ending 5th June) every Wednesday 6 - 7.30pm in the lovely** Iliffe Yard** www.iliffeyard.co.uk - 184 Crampton St, SE17 3QA. ** The cost of the course is £55. I apologise that at this stage there isn't a drop-in option, I need to pay for the space upfront.
**
We can fit a maximum of eight students in the studio, so if you'd like to join, do email me and let me know as soon as you can. Absolute beginners and those with experience welcome as well as non-cyclists of course! The attached image is the centre's front door. You can bring your bike in. Also, should you get there early, do go to the Electric Elephant cafe and meet its owner Louisa - a very good egg indeed, with many a local tale to tell, not to mention a great cake-maker!

**One-to-one/ pair yoga classes in Kings Cross N1.

** I have a lovely bright wee studio just the right size for one-to-ones or pairs. If this is something you are interested in, do get in touch. Rates are negotiable depending on your financial/ health circumstances. Please do pass this on to anyone you know who may be interested and get in touch if you have any questions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm wishes,

Rebecca

• Just back from my first ever yoga session in a dimly lit tiny room up in the nook and cranny heights of Notting Hill's Tabernacle with just two other women for company, one of them the tutor.

Couldn't have picked a more fitting environment to be sweating within 10 minutes, with my glasses falling off entirely once my face glistened in reaction to another upside down contortion. I wasn't there for cycling reasons at all - more I'm trying to control stress/tension and generally treat well a body I've too often abused. Mieke's sessions are based on Hatha yoga, not that I know anything about that or can I compare it to any other. All I know is it was tough but good, and a couple of postures in particular felt somehow right. Will return.

I thought you were a man?

Hatha yoga, not that I know anything about that or can I compare it to any other

Hatha yoga is merely a physical, preparatory practice for higher yoga:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatha_yogaThere are many different approaches to hatha yoga, though, so it might be interesting to find out which direction she practises, e.g. Iyengar yoga.

• I'm definitely a man, as only a man could feel this feeble hours after the event.

This is her - as a total novice I can't talk about her specialism with any authority.

• You just seemed to imply that there were two other women apart from you. :)

#nitpicking

• Thanks for this. Might go one Tue night after work...
Was she a nice instructor or bit of a meanie?

• You just seemed to imply that there were two other women apart from you. :)

I read this also but had assumed this was 'Swine making a little joke. Like in Age of Empires III when John and Kanyenke leave to run down Warwick's army and John is like "Stuart! You stay here with the other women" to his uncle. I don't know if the uncle did yoga, though.

• I've finally started teaching yoga at my flat. Thought about it a few years ago but never got round it till now. It can take up to four people comfortably. I'm in Sydenham, SE London. Let me know if anyone is interested.

The class I've started is every other Saturday but it's already fully booked but I could do one during the week in the evening. Could be general yoga or more cycling specific. As there are only four people it's more like a private session and I can build a class that is quite specific to your needs.

• The latest course info from Rebecca:

what is her email?

• ^ emailed her yesterday for course starting on 1st may but no reply :(

• Am probably going to join tri yoga today.

Have always found the classes good, with very attentive instructors and they have a wide range of different types of practice on offer. The are 3 locations - Chelsea, Soho and Primrose Hill. If I go for the unlimited pass I only have to get to 2 or 3 classes a week to make it worthwhile. My intention would be to try and do back to back classes when I get a chance to attend.

• Amey, I had an email from Rebecca about a week ago saying that there were more people interested than spaces for the course starting tomorrow, so perhaps its full this time? She is usually good at replying, but not at a computer much so sometimes it takes her a few days!

ah ok, i guess I'll wait, thanks for the info

• Has anyone done Rebecca's course at elephant and castle before? What's the bike situation? She said something about taking them inside, bit I'm not sure what the setup is.

• I ve been doing yoga for nearly a year now and quite frankly, I have become a yoga bore..

If you are looking for a class in Walthamstow or Dalston then try

Good to Know Yoga.

http://www.goodtoknowyoga.com/

I think getting into the building @ Dalston on tuesdays is complicated so do let Adele, who runs the classes know you are coming. I go to the saturday morning ones in Walthamstow.

• Did my first yoga class tonight, was awesome would recommend to anyone. Bloody hard work though!

• if its not hard your doing some floaty, spiritually dubious aspirational claptrap. yoga is a challenge- all aspects of it

physio I had after head injury/ broken collarbone last year said everyone, everyone should do yoga.

• Yeah went with my girlfriend she's been bugging me for ages. I thought I was gonna be doing a bit of stretching and some chanting meditating rubbish. Within 10 minutes I had changed my views completely.

• Was at my fifth session earlier. Hooked by the second. Also love it. Body and mind need it now.
