The PRAM manages system wide settings and can sometimes get messed up (on older Macs) when installing new hardware/software.
It's one of the reasons newer versions of OS X now do system updates outside the system (on restarts/shutdowns) and not while you're still using the computer.

it's a new (well 6 month old) macbookpro.
i hadn't done the os-update that came out a few days ago or changed anything.
just one of those weird things computers do. -

i have a music cd stuck in my macbook, it doesn't show up in finder, or itunes.
eject isn't working on it. and have poked the switch inside the tray.
when i restart the mac, the cd kicks in.??? -
• #630
restart with the mouse button pressed down until it ejects.
i know macbooks don't have a mouse so i presume it works with the trackpad or plug a mouse in -
• #631
Yep, the pad click works in the same way on restart to force the eject mechanism... if it doesn't work then you most likely have a failed cd drive.

There's a switch inside the tray? What Macbook is this? Anyway, apparently there's a credit card trick to get cds out of MBs/MBPs. Didn't work for me. Might work for you though!

Hobo - I think I still have my MBP manual around. It's the one that came with the little CD cardboard box thing right? I'll have a look when I get in.

Damn! I never knew that. In the actual drive? I no see the usual pin prick like on the older MBs. Hmmm...

Someone from Apple's getting fired! ha

Ha. That's just what they want you to think.
I think they just do it to watch the apple fanboys jizz their pants.

It's due in July, so will be out being tested now. And the break down of it seems to point to it being real.
I've stopped listening to the apple rumours as they are ALWAYS crap, however this seems like the real deal... -

That look pretty generic to be an apple product, don't they have a deep hatred for buttons?
wouldn't that count as theft? finding a mobile phone and then keeping it to play with it?

Same amount of buttons as the current iPhone.
i thought my macbook had a fried airport card last night as "no airport card installed" was showing in the menubar.
tried the usual applejacking, checking the airport was there in the system profile etc but no joy.
could not delete and reinstall a new airport connection in the network settings as 'airport' was not selectable, even an ethernet connection was showing as 'not connected to the internet'
resetting the p-ram sorted everything out but no idea why this happened as no settings had been changed, os-updates etc.
i hate computers sometimes.
