Plex is still free, it's just the premium features that are in a paid sub.
Plexconnect install guides
https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-guides
might be a bit complicated for your average apple designer drongo, but it's not difficult.also avoid plexconnect.org, it's bullshit trying to get people to pay for a free product.

What's the best way to unlock an iPhone 4? Reviews experiences etc... It's for the gf.

Fuck work. They really did order a 2012 non-retina laptop. Even though I'd specifically requested a retina for the resolution ( 1280 is lower than my current laptop!).
So my new MBP is sitting unopened in a box :(

Well it is, but it's also a massive waste of money. I need the screen resolution, so now it's just going to sit in a box because it's lower than my dell.

Send it to me.

wish I could, but I'll need to send it back.

I've got OS 10.7.5.
I've got a dual monitor setup. I want to watch youtube video on the second monitor in full screen mode, whilst I do other stuff on the MBP screen. What's weird is yesterday it all worked fine. Today I can't get it to work at all.
Typically when I click full screen for the YT film it forces the movie from the second monitor to the MBP screen. I go back to to getting the film back to monitor 2 (by selecting small screen), click full screen again but this time shut the MPB so it has to stay on the 2nd monitor. This normally works but as soon as I open the MPB it forces the movie back there.<<<<<<<<<
solutions?

Just realised it's only a problem when using Chrome, not Safari. Hmmm same shit with using gmail to make phone calls. I keep getting asked to download something to make it work and after 20 downloads nada. Switch to Safari and works.
WTF?!

its fixed in mavericks..

...which is free to download.
I wonder if 10.10 (or 11?) will be free and from now on it'll be free software, but premium hardware, and they'll decide when you need to upgrade, and the current OS won't work on your mac. Much like it is on the phones.

It's been like that the whole time, it's a fundamental law of modern computing - hardware and software must advance at a similar rate, otherwise one leaves the other behind.
Hence why my iPhone 4 runs 5.1 and my Mac Pro 8-core is still tearing along happily at 10.6.8. -

I am jealous of your sensibilities. How is it having an iphone 4 not slowed down by iOS 7?

So I'm gonna buy a macbook for my sister for christmas.
So I just get her a top 13" retina or buy an air with a external hard drive?
Realistically its gonna be used for films/internet and maybe a little word processing.Thoughts?

• #5247
id get the 13" air if shes not going to be doing any sort of 'intensive' work
battery life is a wonderful thing
the retina is excellent value though if you need the processing power

Someone I know is doing web design stuff and is umming and arring about getting a Mac. She's using Photoshop, Illustrator and 3DMax? Should she get a Mac laptop because that's what everyone else uses? She'll be on a budget of up to £1k. I know Windows laptops that I could suggest but if Macs are still the done thing in design then there's not much point going Windoze is there?

Tough one... Macs and 3D software don't really go.. but you can always dual boot.
It'll have to be a 13inch Retina, but max out the ram as you cant upgrade later, annoyingly...Defo dont let her buy a windows laptop, in 8 years I have only worked in one place which had windows and I felt it frustrating and hard to use, because I was not used to it, thats the boat she will be in but the other way round...
creating bootable USB drive for mavericks is completely different and much more painful than any of the previous OSX /rant
