^^ Are you sure? I'm runnng CS5 on Mavericks I think... maybe 5.5?
Mavericks is the same as the others, no real difference.
kboy, wtf have you done to a year old iMac to make it run so poorly? Ran onyx/disc utility at all?I've just used it normally for work. CS5.5 runs really well, it's just something odd with cs6. It needs a re-install I think, but I need a downtime day for that, and there hasn't been one of them for a while, and none up ahead, so I'm stuck with cs5.5

So I installed a new HD and battery in my Macbook Pro yesterday - all went fine and restored from the Super Duper bootable backup etc etc....
However, the battery just ran down and instead of going into low power sleep mode, it just went 'click' and went dead. Working again now that I've got the power plugged in but don't really want that happening every time the battery gets low. Suggestions?
Reconfigure SMC, and PRAM.
Probably.

mrs_com was told to update her macbook to OSX for work (something to do with needing to use Skydrive). Now her Microsoft Office stuff won't work. What's the deal yo?

Heard the same thing at work. I'm pondering doing a sneaky install of mavericks just to have an excuse to never open anything microsoft related ever again

my gfs macbook charger broke so she bought one of amazing in an 'GENUINE OFFICIAL MACBOOK CHARGER SOLD BY APPLE' listing, for 40 quid or something
however i am seriously doubt its real, it does however work and feel like its certainly no less sturdy than the shit anyway macbook chargers,
yet it makes a horrible electric buzzing noise while the battery is charging, is this dangerous, or should i leave it out to just being annoying

I've subscribed to iTunes Match and listen to my music through that, however I often have to switch to foreign iTunes stores to check things and each time I do that all my Match content disappears.
When I re-sign in to the UK Store it asks me if I want to add this computer to iTunes Match and makes me enter my password again. It then scans for my Match content.
Is there any way to stop this happening or is it just the way it works? -

Re the charger, I don't normally check this thread so sorry if this has been dealt with but Apple were offering an amnesty on fake chargers a while ago after a spate of fakes that can cause fires.
If you doubt it's real, don't use it.

Turns out hers was 2004. She also didn't back something very important up before deleting it, for some reason. Open Office it is.

I need some kind of network storage/backup solution for home, I don't think using one hard drive as my sole backup is really that safe...
Is it as simple as getting a NAS box then filling it with cheap drives?
Any suggestions? I'm useless at this kind of thing...
Running Mavericks on a 2.5GHz i7 MBP...

a NAS with 2 disks? I have one but my wi-fi sucks (slow) so I need cables to play movies/music from it. For backup it's fine though

HP Microserver rocks but look out for the deals where you get £100 rebate from HP, they turn up all the time.
You can stuff 6 drives and a SSD into them and there is a trick to get it to recognise drives bigger than 2TB.
WD Reds are your best bet IMHO
Ha, I had the same panic...
