Worst case scenario run the file drive off the USB3 on the back. More than quick enough for files.

Might buy a WD NAS drive thing as a server and back up...

12 seconds is forever! Instant on! Want. Now.
can't you just finish chewing whatever food you inevitably have in your mouth at the time while you wait.

Annoying glitch with my MBP – when I open it up it flicks to whichever program I wasn't using last, e.g. I'll be using Chrome, close the lid, open it up a while later and Spotify jumps to the front. Happens with whatever I have open so it's not program-specific. Sounds minor but it's super annoying, especially as it gives you a second to start doing something before it jumps. Any ideas?

have you tried restarting it? sorry if that's an obvious answer.....
-
• #4507
Yeah it's done it ever since I got it a few months ago. Can't imagine there's a fix but I'm interested to see if it happens to anyone/everyone else.

My iPhone just threw a wobbly (3GS) and is now asking me to plug it into iTunes. Problem is I'm in France on holiday and laptop is in London. Second problem is that I assume it'll want to restore from backup and I have pics I need on here that - for some reason - haven't been uploading to the cloud while I've been away, despite having wifi at the hotel.
Can anyone save my pics? Or, best case scenario, just make my phone start working again?

Waiting for boot delays ordering pizza online = BAD!
Instant on or death!

Define wobbly?
Tried a hard reset? I presume they have something like that for iPhone, that doesn't wipe all your shit but kicks it in the head a little.

The Apple logo appears as though its starting up, then the screen goes blank, and that repeats. Occasionally it gets to the passcode screen, then shuts down. Driving me bonkers...

• #4513
That sounds different to what they mention as being in recovery mode. You sure it's got enough battery power left?
-
• #4514
It's plugged-in at the moment.

Wall or USB? Do you get to see the charge icon?

http://www.apple.com/uk/support/iphone/assistant/phone/
To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.
What does this do>?

Do you have a computer you could try connecting it to, to see if you can access it?

Plugged into wall. Doing a hard reset interrupts the cycle of doom, but nothing else.

Nope, not here. Slightly worried that when I plug into laptop at home it'll just restore from backup and wipe my Ventoux pics.
:(

• #4519
Yeah, it'll probably try a restore which will wipe your shit. But you can probably plug it into a machine and try at least to access it as a drive first, before resorting to a restore.

Sorry, I don't know enough about them. I thought Apples never crashed. ;)

"they just crash"

Don't think you can access iPhones as a drive. Gutted.

i had mine (4s) plugged into a colleagues pc today so he could copy across a video from it.. I thought itunes would get involved and try to sync etc. but it just seemed to appear as a drive with the images in folders etc.... phone was fully operational of course but hope perhaps?

You could try messing with a few of the preferences in System Prefs > Mission Control. I found not having the third box ticked made some behaviour I found horrible.
Might not help though...

I've got 2 x 2GB RAM for MacBook Pro (early 2011 model) that has been collecting dust for a while - does anyone want those?
Not looking to make any profit. Collection from Roman Road (mornings and evenings), Soho (daytime) or can meet somewhere in between on my way to work or back home
Thanks,
Eugene
Yep, thats what I got... run apps etc from solid state and have normal for storage... took a bit of squeezing to get the extra drive in the mini... even thought they can be bought with two in...
