Cinexplayer allows you to play avi files on the iPad.

Or VLC as standard

So if you installed VLC you could basically connect up to PC and drag video files (dvd rips) over to the iPad?
-

should work, although sometimes I get weird artifacting... depends on the rip

I've asked before but... anyone able to fit a HDD for me in a non unibody Macbook Pro? Happy to pay in beer/food/cold hard cash, the last time it was done it cost me a Burrito and took 30mins so can't stomach the daft prices shops ask.
Please?

I've got a Mac mini on my desk at work, and I used my own apple account to upgrade the OS and download the xCode package. (and claimed it on expenses)
Now I am leaving the company I want to obliterate these account details, but leave the OS and software intact.
How do I do this?

Anyone have a spare SSD they'd part with? Taking Ben up on his very kind offer of help and trying to get a cheap drive for a battered old laptop... (hope a SSD makes it actually usable).

• #4492
Check ebuyer they are quite cheap at the moment.

I do love this forum sometimes... PM sent. Cheers chaps.

Just checked ebuyer. SSD's are finally getting on the reasonable side. Sub £100 for 128Gb is hard to argue with

Yeah think I paid around £80 for my 120 samsung. Computer boots in around 12 secs. Can't imagine it being much faster or needing it to be much faster.
-
• #4497
12 seconds is forever! Instant on! Want. Now.
-

My mini is faster than all the high powered iMAcs I have used because it's got an SSD in it... it nearly explodes when I try to play games on it, but oh well... might look into getting something a bit bigger next year...

You can pick up the 512gb Sandisk extremes for £230 on a good day.
Brillantly fast too, although I'd like a 900gb Crucial one, speed and storage! Yes

I quite like the idea of having 2 drives, one for system and one for files. Should the system one fail, it's not the end of the world, and if the file one dies it could be rescued with a bit of luck
Planning to install a SSD for the boot/system drive, have all the applications and system on that, and 2 or 3 HDs for storage. At least 1 drive will be a backup for files.
