325 would seem about right to me. It's nice having a long warranty but in reality I'm not sure how much benefit it will bring

Did it have 3G?
Yup, not that he's ever put a SIM in it...

If she gets a new one for free she should sell it cheap to a friend.

I didn't get an answer in AQA thread so, should I jailbreak my iPhone?
Only real reason I have for doing so would be to change my "slide to unlock" text to something stupid in a stupid colour. Are there other benefits? Will I void my warranty/AppleCare?
I have jail broken my previous iPhones and thought it was great until I realised I didn't want or need anything cydia offered. A friend of mine who is a "bit into it" has loads of mods, but I couldn't be bothered...
And yeah, voids warranty.

How do I get mails form my macbook (snow lion) to new macbook (mountain lion) without using the migration tool?
Tried a lot but nothing worked so far.

Are they stored locally on your Mac? If so just move the ~/Library/Mail folder across to your new mac.
Then move to the same location on your new Mac and open Mail and it will source those folders and done. Enjoy.

Do the same as well with you ~/Library/Mail Downloads folder to save some time.

And yeah, voids warranty.
If you reset to factory settings and set it up as a new phone ie. not use a backup then it doesn't void your warranty as Apple won't know. If you rock up to the Genius bar and aren't there to mock them you should obviously make sure you've wiped the phone and reset everything.
This jailbreak lark is pretty well documented and you may want to keep firmware versions backed up too if you do do it. Generally I advise people not to, because those that should probably wouldn't be asking... generally.
Its a fair amount of faffing.

So I need to upgrade from leopard to something sensible that still works. In the last couple of months nearly all the applications I used have become unsupported on leopard.
There seems to be no way to do this quickly online anymore, do I have to buy this disc and wait an age for it?
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopardI kept on wanting to avoid paying for upgrades but it now looks like I can't.

I broke the screen on my ipad. I don't want to get apple to repair it as it costs a fortune - and I've found a few places online that'll do it for much less. Has anyone got any recommendations as to somewhere reliable to get the repair done?

So my one of these seems to have randomly given up the ghost. I use it at work, because it's small and I dont like huge keyboards. Anyone have one they'd like to sell?

Apple are doing a 0% finance deal at the moment, but only on purchases over a certain threshold (around £450, I think).
Anyone want to go in with me on 2 iPad Minis?

Funnily enough have had to do the same myself very recently - phoned Apple today.
Call 0800 048 0480 and you can order a Snow Leopard disc that will then allow you to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
The disc costs about 21 quid for a family disc. The guy I spoke to said the individual discs are 18 quid but there is a 4-5 week wait on them whereas the family one will be posted out on Friday. You can then re-update to Mountain Lion for free.
To be honest, if you can get to Camden in working hours or SE22 on an evening, for a beer you can have one of my 'family' installs when I get the disc - i imagine it will arrive around Wed next week.

last i checked there's no license check on the os x install disks for snow leopard so it can be used as many times as you like.
-
• #3847
^ yep
-
• #3848
So there you go. I had a problem getting the snow leopard disc to work from a more recent macbook with my newer imac due to licence issues.. Maybe that's because it was supplied with the macbook and not purchased afterwards and separately. Anyway the offer still stands.

I recently got the keyboard on my macbook replaced at http://www.luvapple.co.uk/ £85 and only took a couple of hours. I think they fix ipads too, they're in Hackney near London fields

Thanks - dropped them a line.
Thanks TS, that's about the figure I was going to suggest. I actually thought £325-350 - (in)mates rates innit.
Did it have 3G?
