Dust it.
Purchase some canned air, and blow the dust out.
You probably just disturbed the dust, which left is unbalanced and is why it's making a noise.

everytime I open the case, I get the canned air out and blow out the dust.
Am leaving it for a little while to see if it settles down..

I've had this iPad knocking around for nearly a week but haven't really used it 'til today... Very nice, but I still don't really see the point...
I Hope dad does... :S

I downloaded ComicBookLover and downloaded a load of comic book torrents. Not sure how much the complete Tintin, Asterix or Modesty Blaise collections would be but I suspect I saved the cost of the iPad.
IBooks is also great for PDFs, so keeping all those manuals for guitar gear or motorbike workshop manuals on there is dead handy.

Also great for portfolio, especially for graphic design/photography.

Ipads are one of the best things to happen in my work (construction) rather than having to carry around endless plans, i now have everything i need on the ipad, plus with various apps i can real time modify measurement, designs etc etc using site info and the camera.
Also brilliant for demonstrating things to clients on site.
I was a non believer, but an iPad (or tablet) is something i couldnt imagine working without

I find the iPad ideal for looking at porn in bed

Perhaps when the iPad has a capacitive touch resolution greater than 6mm, and can recognise pressure... I might begin to agree.
But then, I'd still moan about the locked down ecosystem.

Perhaps when the iPad ... can recognise pressure... I might begin to agree.
Have you played with Garageband on an iPad?
It has an awesome cheat for pressure sensitivity that uses the built in accelerometer.
Actually, Garageband on the iPad is just great anyway if you like writing music. As an easy to use musical sketchpad it's perfect.

Major trojan in the wild, half a million infected Macs already:
http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2012/04/flashback-trojan-reportedly-controls-half-a-million-macs-and-counting.arsWorks via Java, as Oracle patched a security flaw ages ago, but Apple ship their own version and didn't patch until last week.
Anyone with Java installed (that's everyone with Adobe software installed), that doesn't have Xcode installed (that's everyone who doesn't write iOS apps), is vulnerable.

Any recommendations for how to send a fax from an imac?
just upgraded the memory in my mac pro (desktop) and now the fan whirls away like crazy. I've got the latest SMC firmware, and I've tried resetting it by unplugging, leaving for 15 seconds, plugging in, leaving fo 5 seconds and then restarting, but doesn't seem to do anything.
if I put it to sleep, and then wake it, the fan winds itself into a frenzy before gradually calming down back to it's now normal growl..
any suggestions on how to return it to normal?
many thanks
