Maplin are selling a 2Tb Seagate USB external drive for £99, I picked one up for £93 with a voucher then stumped up another £30 for a Firewire 800 cradle for it... Lorra storage for pennies...
Thanks for posting this... I was happy spending £77 on a Diamond Supply sweatshirt but now I know about this, I feel I should buy a HD instead.

@ Hael: MY old MBP is next to worthless, both the camera and SuperDrive are fuxxored... Gonna plug a 40" plasma into it and use it as a media centre...
Sod the 40", do what I do and plug you old mbp into a projector. My screen is at least 150". Projectors are the way forward...

Projectors are the way forward...
until...suddenly, day light.

Was loving my new MBP + Dell 27" monitor set-up until yesterday... The anti-glare coating on the Dell U2711 is a bit shit, it looks like it's coated in millions of microscopic sparkles... Which is a bit off-putting when you're trying to get work done on it... It may have to go back... :[

I'll look after it for you.

Anyone any experience of the WD mybook studio 1tb drive the firewire and usb one? Any cop?
-
• #2962
I'll look after it for you.
It looks like someone's stretched a pair of very sheer tights over the whole screen... I think it needs to go back... :(

If anyone has a need for more RAM in their laptop... I've just upgraded to 16GB, so have 2x 4GB DDR3 sticks going spare (That's 8GB in total, maths fans).... they are what Apple ship with, not third party (They are stickered Apple, although I believe Samsung actually make 'em?)
The cheapest alternative I can find online is £35 posted (I paid £80 for the upgrade a year ago!) so they are yours for £25 posted. PM me if you're keen, first to dibs em and pay for em gets em.

• #2966
Yeah! Perfect... sorry, did I not "give rep" or send a PM? Had a nightmare of a day today... Thanks again!
(Reading back, and knowing the spirit of the forum, does my other post sound sarcastic?)
Edit: Yeah did rep... phew...
-
• #2967
I'm not sure what "rep" is, but it sounds like a good thing?
Glad it got there ok, and no, didn't come across as sarcastic at all, thanks for your kind words.

It is a bit urban to be fair... but worth spreading times. My HD cable arrived today too so will attempt to fit it all soon... SSD speed bump here I come.
And no worries! -

16GB RAM, fuck me... you're 1/12th of your way to catching up with my workstation ;)
oblig' boast post
thats the thing with crash plan, you can still backup to your local external disk and then to the cloud for piece of mind so if you do damage your local back up you can always pull it down from the cloud ..and for $6 a month for unlimited storage you cant complain
the first sync will take a few days but after that its incremental backups so you wont notice
