  • 192GB of RAM.

It's the max that the system could take.

And I'm warming my feet with it.

^^Hah, my original fraction was sooo wrong.

  • You need a more powerful calculator.

  • I should clarify, it's not a Mac. It's a HP Z800 which I fully loaded.

  • You need a more powerful calculator.

    That was my brain.

I can't do maths when singing. Manics are on the stereo.

  • Anyone got any DDR2 memory they want to get rid of, or can point me in the direction of. I've just had a look at crucial and wondered if there's anywhere cheaper 4gb works out at £122 inc VAT.

Want to up the power of the old mac pro before I start chucking it through it's final cut paces..

    many thanks

  • kid scruff meant mac pro, rather than laptop

  • It's a pretty fucking zippy MBP now, I'm tellin' ya... Blazin'!

Whats it like under load? Photoshop etc cope even better

  • until...suddenly, day light.

Do you not have curtains? Anyway, who wants to be watching tv in the daytime? That's when you're meant to be out riding.

  • I've got 2 x 2Gb MBP RAM anyone want it - £20 posted? It's the kit that came with the machine

  • Whats it like under load? Photoshop etc cope even better

Really good., I was a little concerned cuz the new machine felt a bit sluggish at first... Chucked the new memory in and Bingo! I knocked up a gig poster in Ps a coupla days ago, nothing too complex but it's still a 60Mb CMYK psd file... It opened it in around a second with the new RAM, much quicker... Very impressive...

I still need to test it with more processor intensive stuff, I will be delete > content aware-ing the shit out of it tomorrow...

  • I have a very similar setup to TS by the sound of it, but my MBP is one iteration older than TS's.... (2.3 i7, not 2.5 i7), with 16GB RAM.

Under heavy loads (for most of last week I was running PS, AI & AE CS5, AE CS4 & AE CS5.5 simultaneously for 8hrs a day, rendering out various stereographic 3D clips @ 3840x1020... I could leave AE rendering whilst still working on and saving out multi-layered PS files quite happily... Fans often sounded like the desk was about to take off, but it coped with little lag in the UI or switching between apps.

Oh for the good old days of 4hr render breaks!

  • I've got 16gb in my imac, went from whatever the default was... can't say I noticed a massive difference.

Maybe I need to do a clean instal one weekend.

  • Anyone got a cheap hook-up for a 27" Cinema Display? I've found one for £699, can anyone beat that?

  • OK, last question (for a while)...
Will my late 2011 Thunderbolt-equipped MBP work with a pre-Thunderbolt Cinema Display?
I'm gonna pull the trigger on this monitor if it is OK...

  • I'm running a mini with an old style display so should be fine too... The old displays are the best IMO. To hell with the consumer driven shine displays!

  • Gah! eBay seller has exactly what I want but £200 below retail... Heart says yes, brain says no... 99.5% pos feedback going back over a year... I guess I'm covered with PayPal, but...

  • Just bought a Thunderbolt display on eBay for (relative) peanuts... Let's see how this pans out...

  • anyone know a simple .jpg editor/viewer that will let me add more than one picture and save all as...
so i haz one on left and one on the right type ting!

or a simple 4/5 picture mosaic

  • something like this

  • erm doesn't ifranview let you do that?

I'm running exactly that with an adapter, works really well.
