As well as questioning their design/life choices, I am annoyed that they fucked what looked to have once been really nice plaster coving.
Yes I should have just said this. ^
There's some comedy stuff in our gaff like this. Proper Y u do diss!!! stuff.

Thanks but it will be a while before we need to do any coving. Going to have to get it all down first, build the stud wall/surround, decide what kind of opening we want and then maybe even try plastering it myself. All while trying not to drop bricks on a 1 year old or poison her with plaster dust. So it may take a while. Given how long it took to collect the rad, I might give you a shout in 2024.

Cheers, I'm too far in to turn back now, Burt its insane. Honestly, my Google review is going to be one of my most scathing and previous ones have hardly been refrained...

The poltergeist is going to escape now you've started opening it up!
Seriously though save those bricks, you might want them for something. Or at least flog 'em.

save those bricks
Yeah, if we go for the just rectangular apature option I'll try my hand at brick laying to line the side of the opening as it would be narrower than the plinths. Keeping the cast iron fire basket too to do something in the garden.

Its become an endurance test. And yeah, lots of effort into branding and their website but the actual purchase journey is a bloody mess.
As is their stock management. -

Solid core or GRP composite front door? Unfortunately traditional wooden door are out of the questions as the location is quite exposed (nothing crazy, but not recessed and rain might be a problem over time)

Anyone south got a drain rod I can borrow? The drain below my down pipe has always been blocked and now the roof is done I tried to unblock it. Got as far as my hand could reach, even using the hose to try and loosen stuff but there's still an unspecified depth of crud/silt/stuff to shift before it's flowing.

I have a pressure washer drain attachment, but I'm a way away from you I think. If you're ok to schlep, I'm ok to lend.

How far?

The roofer has made noises that he will sort it tomorrow as I've told him the rubble that he left behind has been washing into it. But, I will believe that when I see it.

TW2

I've had success in the past using a hose - the trick being to build up the pressure by wrapping a damp cloth around the drain entry (where you have shoved the hose), holding it down tight and opening the hose up to full blast.

Anyone south got a drain rod I can borrow?
SE7 any use?

Better than TW2 (thanks anyway @TW). I'll let you know if the roofer doesn't sort it.

Also asked my neighbour as he seems to have a few tools knocking around. Nice to actually have pleasant neighbours.

This.
I've got some coving left over - not sure how much but might be useful for a tenporary measure?
Also have about 12m of dado rail still in its packages which you can have for some beer
