Koshihikari, pls. I have a rice cooker to think of.
Though a carnaroli roof has a nice ring to it. -

Made from 18mm ply by a chap called Dan Borg.

I love the transparent coving in the second picture.

Also I hope as well as not being load-bearing it's not ceiling-bearing - it doesn't seem like it's going to take that plaster down as well does it?
And is that a pipe running behind the fake chimney?

Not cheap, but worth every penny for that minimalist aesthetic.

No, that's the vertical bit I was referring to, the light fitting. And it's been bricked up to about 2-3 inches below the original coving and then mortared to fill the gap. It's noticeable that there are gaps.

Sarcasm? Impending doom? Foreshadowing? Genuinely fine?

I also checked the depth of the chimney breast in the bedroom above and it is as deep as the face we will be taking this back to.

Where they floating shelves?
Fully painted?Depending on how many shelves you were quoted for; it sounds like a few days work and some materials. Expensive but perhaps not as outrageous as it sounds.

This basmati is shit chat is ridiculous... I'm another 20min on the stove disciple (one knuckle of water above the rice, ten minutes on a low flame once it begins to bubble then flame off and leave covered for another ten minutes), taught to me many years ago by a wise Malaysian friend, Shantha... I have never looked back, don't cook enough rice to merit a rice cooker but this method yields perfect results every time!
Cork tiles are well shit tho'... Not that I can talk about tiles... 🤢

Why do you think it's a problem?
-
• #42697
I don't, I think the approach was crazy / mad. problem, probably not, other than removing it is obvs. a ball ache.
-
• #42698
Oh, you mean the builder's approach?
-
• #42699
Yeah.

I wasn't picking up what you were putting down, I thought you were saying my house was about to implode.
As well as questioning their design/life choices, I am annoyed that they fucked what looked to have once been really nice plaster coving.
Adding it to the pile of "this is why we could afford the house" stuff.
They get fuckin boggin, some you can wash regularly to help them a bit better which is good!
