Too rich for me. Just looking for something cheap and shiny to help my flat sell.

^ excellent landlord advice right there :)

Dunno. I probably ought to put brand new stuff in anyway, rather than having buyers think they need to replace it because it's got a bit of dirt on the door glass.
That and I have no intention of doing the kitchen until later next year. -

Thinking about putting an offer on this place but the house is just too big. I'd rather live in one of the other buildings. Problem is, what could I do with the main building to stop it falling into disrepair? The main attraction is the garden.
Do you reckon they'd accept £10,000 and a reach-around from Scoble?

I'd want to own a lot more of Scotland for £8m

I guess the selling point is that you'd have more than four times the size of Richmond Park (7,000 acres) and all the animals you could wish to shoot. When all is said and done, there aren't many places that you can buy on that scale with stalking and salmon fishing for that amount of money.

indeed 8m should go a lot further up there!

I don't agree. It isn't farm land...its game land. I agree that you could buy more farmland for that kind of wonga.

You could tarmac over all those animals and have a nice race track.

Or build an airport.

I'd love that. I'd do nothing more in all that land than enjoy the absence of others.

Dafuq is walked-up grouse?
They say most of these big scotch estates now go to forrins who staff and maintain them better than the lairds ever did but barely ever actually go there.

Sounds grand.
I'd like to be one of those forrins who gets people in to do his job and never actually goes there.

My sister has put in an offer on a flat and been told by the agent that if she goes with their mortgage broker and conveyancer they will reduce the price by a couple of grand.
I know a couple of people have mentioned this kind of thing up the thread, but does anyone have direct experience of doing this? Is it really dodgy or just a bit underhand? Any pointers to pros and cons much appreciated.

The agent will still be in pocket because they receive commission from the broker.
When I bought my house the first deal fell through because every single letter from the agent to me, the vendor and my lawyer mysteriously disappeared, so the other potential purchaser bought the house. The other buyer had a mortgage arranged by the agent's broker. I complained to the head office and nothing happened. The agent lied to my face. He was the same one who said "It's easier to talk to you than Pakis". -

From what I gather, it's pretty common.
My colleague mentioned doing it without any trouble. I didn't because I'd already set up a mortgage with a recommended fin. adv.
I haven't been to a dinner party since September.
Come to think of it, I've never been to a dinner party.
