Hi mate,
I live in Dereham as well, I've got a wheelset which you can have for £60. I'll throw in some tires & rim tape as well.

Slightly more than I wanted to spend...but I'm not having much luck so I'm thinking I may have to up my budget a bit anyway!
Could you give me some more info? Or could I come by one evening and have a look? -
• #154
Erm they are round!
I've also got some formula hubbed ones which you can have for a little more if you want? -
• #155
Ha ha very tempting but like I say I have no money! Do the first wheels you said about take 700c x 23 tires? If so would you consider not including the tires and dropping the price at all? And what size is the sprocket? Am genuinely interested just hard up so need to be sure :-(

JessBerry drives a hard bargain...

Yep, think I may be working my way towards receiving some newbie-bashing!! ;-)
-

Not from me. That's a god deal for a wheelset, though. Especially with rubber included.

I'm just worried because I don't know anything about it-don't want to meet up and waste spenceey's time. And I'm slightly worried about sprocket sizes generally as my front crank is 52t (which is quite large it seems!!)

Might be wrong, but I think it's the one off his Charge Plug. Not a bad wheelset. Think he's ordered a new set, hence the spare. If it is that one then it's probably got the stock 16T cog on, which would give you 52:16 or 87.8 gear inches. That's pretty high, but it all depends what kind of riding you do.

Wow I never would have thought Dereham housed a charge plug!!
I'll be riding the bike around Cambridge mostly come September, and its really flat there so I'm hoping 16t will be ok...so long as it isn't any smaller than that! -
• #162
I think he's got a nice tourer hidden somewhere as well.

Paul's Cycles in Dereham stocks Charge so I'd be surprised if there weren't a couple kicking around..
-

Oh yeah, if you see someone riding around town with a huge banjo bro's rucksack and drop bars on a charge plug chances are It's me. Managed to fit a whole weeks worth of shopping in it yesterday - oh yes!
Jessberry - I've got a couple of wheelsets. The cheaper one of the two I can probably do for £50 with rim tape and a fixed cog (no freewheel though) or you can have the old charge wheelset which is better imo for £60. Up to you though mate.

Oh yeah p.s. Whilst we are here if anyone else wants any of these wheels let me know, they are taking up way to much room in the house at the moment.

I've been into Paul's a few times and haven't seen any Charges...but I'm not very observant! Impressive re the shopping :-)
£50 set sounds good - Although the charge wheelset may be better I'm so worried that my bike will be nicked at uni I want to keep it as cheap and cheerful as poss! ...and I'll be able to put my 700c x 23 tires on right?
If so then dibs!
-
• #168
Wow, I don't reckon that would get nicked! I'll keep an eye on it... Cheers Sparky!

I think you'd be fine with either of the wheelset's.
As long as you've got a good enough lock and somewhere secure to store the bike over night I wouldn't worry too much about it being nicked.
Are you in Dereham at all today as I'm only doing half a day so can drop them off to you if you want?
EDIT - THE Charge plug wheelset can fit 23's on.

Nope sorry I'm at work all day in Swaffham, I'll be in Dereham from 6:30 tonight onwards.
I'm also around from about 8 tomorrow evening, or from mid-morning onwards on bank holiday Monday... I'm not in any rush so whenever suits you.
I think I'll probably go with the £50 set anyway - I prefer a skinnier wheel and the plug's wheels have always looked a bit wide to me...Did you want me to come and collect them? That way I could have a look at the charge wheels just to make sure... ;-) -
• #171
Tomorrow evening would be fine mate if you want? I'll pm you my mob number and get both wheelset out.
-
• #172
Sounds good! :-)
-
• #173
Wow that old rustbucket fixed bike on ebay that Sparky pointed out sold for £94!
-
• #174
Jeez, you didn't buy it did you?
-
• #175
No way!!!!! Suddenly your wheels are looking pretty bloody bargainous!! :-D
Thank you for the links.
I will see if anyone comes up with anything and if not I'll go for one of those :-)
