Yeah, I'm moving house in August, so will be breaking off the Sky (which is in my flat mates name) then.
after I've moved in with the Missus we'll have to sort out how much Sky we subscribe to etc. Pretty sure the Skyplayer on Xbox will see me good for next seasons football though...

I'm a bit behind the curve. I just downloaded Bioshock 2 on Steam, and wanted to play it last night. It took me 45 minutes of installing updates, registering, typing in serial numbers and shit for Windows Live before I could play the fucking thing. What is this shit? I thought the whole point of Steam was that you didn't have to do all that. It knows I bought it, it should be able to download its own updates. Balls to Windows Live.
Finally got to play it and the cutscene videos are choppy as all hell. The gameplay at 1920x1080 with everything turned up to max is plenty smooth and fast, so why should the much lower res videos be so useless?

It's not Steam, it's Microsoft, don't know why they do it but it does cause some conflict in the Bioshock 2 forum.
You mean the in-games cut-scene or the first cut-scene before you start playing?

The first one was particularly bad. Later ones seem not so bad. The fish on the menu screen are really jerky too.
I appreciate it's MS, not Steam. But Steam should be able to tell Windows Live "don't you fret your little corporate head about it, I'm taking it from here". Do the deal people!

It's one of the reason why I have a videogames console, so I won't have to worry about the specification of each games.
have you try and tones down some of the spec and see if it make any different? anyhow the Bioshock 2 forum is pretty good in solving problem.

Couldn't agree more Ed.
I got fed up with worrying about whether a PC was up to the task of playing x game or would I need to update x part in a year.
Buy an Xbox/ps3 and be done with it, then you don't have to worry about upgrading.
Although I do like playing Diablo2 which is really old game by todays standard and It's easy to play on the mac.

that's a big resolution. Try lowering some secs like turning off anti aliasing or running it on a lower res and see if it improves.

There's a new Xbox?
-
• #986
Yeah its just a little bit smaller, has integrated wifi a new HDD which isnt backwards compatible with the old one and runs cooler/quieter.

I thought it hasn't actually been officially announced yet, or has it?
EDIT - Just googled it and there is a new xbox, looks quite nice as well. Good thing is the old (current?) ones will come down in price.

did they stick a blueray player in it?
Seems like a nice little update, but certainly no reason to upgrade the one i've got.

I finally started Mass Effect 2. It feels extremely nice, but, then again, I loved the first one, too. Not too keen on sci-fi, but Mass Effect pushed all the right buttons.
And I tried BioShock (the first one). Stopped after maybe one hour of playtime. That game did nothing for me. The setting is great, but that was it. I won't be returning to Rapture.

Red Dead Redemption - one of, if not the best game you will play this year.
The whole story had me hooked, still does now even once I've completed it.
Must say that there is a complete shocker ending as well though.

Keep it to yourself Spencey!
Late nights at work have slowed me down on red dead. I'm still ploughing my way through Mexico, although I think it's all about to kick off again in a couple of missions time.

Mexico was great.
When your riding about have you ever seen all the mexican army people about to shoot someone by the road? I thought I would save him and it turns out they all come against you and you get a bounty!

Haven't seen that yet!
It just looks so Amazing though. I started playing the game on my old sony Bravia CRT, and then bought a proper 100Hz LCD Bravia, and WOW!!! Loving watching the sunrises, the water, the landscapes. It's just EPIC.
The girlfriend is even falling for the game. She loved it when the Jose Gonzalez tune came on and went and bought the soundtrack after that. She's also enjoying the story line, but refuses to admit that GTA is exactly the same just in the modern era :(

ha ha it looks great doesn't it? Take it your using HDMI as well?
What song is that by the way?
My Mrs. also likes playing the game, usually just roaming around get startled when people shoot at her for no reason!
Have you played it online yet either, that really is fun.

Yep, switched from Composite to HDMI. It's just epic, I don't think you can really value HD gameplay / 100hz until you see it. As I'm such a big Pro Evo player, graphics are mostly taken for granted.
I completed mirrors edge ages ago but I really want to stick that back in and have a look at that. It was such a beautiful game.

Bye bye life again.
Clocked FO3 when it was new, sold it and missed it since.
Got the goty with all the dlc. -

Just started playing Point Lookout. Gutted to fire up FO3 to find that my Broken Steel save game is no more. Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! [/vader in Revenge of the Sith]

Oh I bought broken steel and didn't play it that much. Sold the game shortly after. Fallout for me was one of them games with a great story line but after that it got boring quite quick.
