I've been wondering if there's a way to hook up controllers and stream video from a PC in one room to a TV in another. With minimal latency, obviously.
Would be a great option for swapping desk for sofa.

Loved it.
Misread Basement Dweller as Vault Dweller.
Spoken like a true wastelander. Have you pre-ordered Infinite?
How about Fallout-Rapture Ed?

if any of you are into retro gaming, the site I write for has a monthly event on in East London
Ami Nakajima will be there for the last time representing wipEout 2048.

Wondered the same myself - apart from a long hdmi lead - longest is 25m by the looks of it you could always give that a go?

Steam Big Picture is pretty good for that
Yeah pretty good too.
But then you've always got to lug your pc downstairs to have a game.

TBF although I was a SNES man (boy?) the Mega Drive provided me with one of the most exciting nights of my early life; I'd yet to join the 16bit revolution, nor had any of my mates, so when some friends of the family came over for the night with a rented Mega Drive and Sonic I felt like I'd stepped through a portal into the future for one too-short night. It was like a dream.

Same with the SNES, a mates much-older brother brought his back during his uni holidays, for 4 continuous days we played Super Mario World on his 14" TV set, taking it in turns, hunting for that mythical 97th level, pausing only to refuel with Ribena, chicksticks and chips.

Bomberman is king. The speed of the dudes doesn't feel right, though. Still awesome.

Are people really having the PC vs Console argument? What is this, 1997?

Day Z mod is on steam now.

well to be fair it's "nice-pc-in-box" verses "home-made-pc" now :)
I did write an article about why the whole race is now on social interaction rather than hardware... might as well pimp the URL again

Not really sure if Day Z appeals to me. Looks way to in depth for a simple pick up and play.

Free if you've got Arma 2 and the right DLC thingy.

Good article. I'm only joking, though I thought that argument had died. Funny how technology has changed and things have gone in a circle.

Consoles are great for the plug and play ability and without having to worry about future games being compatible. They're also much better for offline multi player games. My PS3 got used almost solely for Street Fighter. That's why I liked the Wii so much, Super Smash Bro's and Mario Kart were all I needed and everyone could pick them up. The PS3 got annoying with it's constant updates and shitty online service, I just want to chuck in the disk and play, not wait 2 hours for the console to update then another hour for the game to update.
PC's are much better for online games, MMORPG's, RTS, FPS, etc. Pretty much all of them. I never have a chance to play anything with friends since moving out of my student house so my PS3 was unused. That said things like Metal Gear will probably make me buy the PS4.
To be honest I've got bored of most single player games that have been released in the last few years. They just aren't as deep or involving or as long as things like FF7 were. And the ones you can really get in to, end way too early. There's a few exceptions like Dishonoured, but I generally only play games online now as the human factor means every time is different. -

Really impressed with new Tomb Raider's sexy adventuring.
The structure of the game is quite unique. The story's linear so you couldn't describe it as open-world, but you're free to travel around the areas which you've already visited. More parts of these become accessible due to events in the story and new accessories that you get use of. The lighting can change quite dramatically as well, so there's little sense of repetition.
Gameplay/combat etc all very solid, production values top notch, and Lara's pixels are all pretty convincing.

How good is the subtitle option? or is there any?

Can anyone recommend some good PC emulators for old school consoles?
Preferable one that will work with XBMC.

Since my computer now can barely handle modern games, and I don't fancy going through the fuss of building my own computer up, is there's a decent OTP computer I can buy specifically for gaming?
Straw that broke the camel's back was the new Tomb Raider game.
To be fair, I shouldn't be using a Mac to play videogames in the first place, woefully underpowered!
@Crispin,
i swear it wasn't my intention to create bad blood between the gaming tribes, but I was Megadrive all day long...
