  • this wild enthusiasm is tempting me to pick up a copy of deus ex. Is it that good? I've been trying to get enthused about LA Noire over the weekend, but for all the hype I've found it pretty boring.

  • yep, well good.

Liked LA Noire, but not enough to try and finish it. Deus ex on the other hand...

  • Just watched a dev interview for skyrim, and everyones getting dead excited that you can become a vampire in skyrim...

I'm so sure that happened to me in oblivion? Anyone?

Other than that, getting dead excited about being able to punch a butterfly.

    you can punch butterflies?!!

yes you could become a vampire in oblivion. you caught porphyric hemophilia from a vampire then changed after a couple of days. Made you vulnerable in sunlight and gave you the option to sneak into people's houses at night and bite their necks.

You could also become a vampire in Morrowind. It may have been in previous games, too.

You have been able to become a vampire in all but the 1st game as far as I know. Also a werewolf in the Bloodmoon expansion to morrowind. Seriously good fun

  • Also - massively looking forward to Skyrim!

    Dragons FTW!!

  • I think I've fallen out of love with fantasy RPGs. I haven't been able to get into one since Morrowind. Gave up on Oblivion. Haven't been able to play through Dragon Age... They're all so samey. Really enjoyed Jade Empire, though. And Skies of Arcadia for Gamecube.

  • yeah... but you can punch butterflies?

  • Luckily I have shit-all work to do = today has been spent playing through Hengsha. I've just SPOILER!!! rescued a young and cocky Tracer Tong.

I now have all augs except the derma upgrades and the running upgrades. Typhoon and punch through walls being my favourites - however not a fan of the battery only ever recharging to one level. Stoopid.

  • DX:HR is a console game, it was ported by a third party to the pc.

That is not the case. I'm wiating to upgrade my gcard, then I will get DX.

  • ^ that.

If I can produce big spikes through my arms, surely I can recharge more than one battery.

  • Definitely worth upgrading the card.

My computer at home couldn't handle it so I'm playing at work on a machine built for dealing with video. Not great but at least it runs - though it's still very sluggish. Toying with putting in an order at work for a proper gaming card :)

I finally got around to completing the story for LA Noire this weekend. I thought it was great. Some of the in game actions are repetitive but the actual story line is fantastic.

  • The first few section, when he was going from police officer to detective was great, but afterward it gotten real repetitive and I find myself finishing for the sake of finishing the games.

Right now I'm in narc and I hasn't even finish it yet.

The story was great (insofar), but I don't think it's well thought out.

Yeah - I've found the same.

The story is good. Walking around the room looking for clues and asking questions is a grind - it's a great idea, but it just slows down the game too much, too often and I've not found it satisfying enough to be one of the central 'planks' of the game. Usually try to finish games, but I've got to vice and I don't think I'll bother with this one. Was hoping for it to be as good as RDR

  • HUGE SPOILERS

    that. was. fucking. awesome.

    I'm out of breath.

Managed to get all augs by the end except for the leg ones and I could have easily paid for them with the spare credits I had if only I was able to visit a LIMB clinic - something I suspect Panchea wouldn't have had.

Stupidly the last visit I made was to get the new biochip inserted like the gullible sheep that I am.

I would have liked to see the fight with Namir if Zhao hadn't pushed my kill switch.

I chose Sarif's option in the end but I literally flipped a coin between it and nuking the place. Not gonna go with Taggart out of principle (i.e. the principle that he was a dick) and obviously not going down Darrow's route.

    Awesome, awesome game.

  • SPOILER

So did you not get your chip fixed by your lady friend?

I got her to fix mine, and had to fight him, all blurry headed.

  • SPOILER

She fixed it for me after the fight which was helpful of her. Luckily I had the grenade launcher already equipped when I had to fight him and 4 shots, he was gone.

  • oh aye... that was the way round it went.

started again straight away. killed everyone in the police station instead of talking my way in.

faced hell when I got outside, might have to start again again.

  • That is not the case. I'm wiating to upgrade my gcard, then I will get DX.

"The first demo of Deus Ex: Human Revolution sent to the press ran on the Xbox 360, but we were assured time and again by the developers that the PC version would be no cheap port"

The Console version is done by Eidos Montreal, who are owned by Square Enix. The PC version is a port by Nixxes Software, who are a 3rd party company.

I stand by my original comment, it IS a console game that's been ported to PC. It was NOT developed for PC then ported to console. I'm not saying it's bad, in fact I want it for the PC for the DX11 as well.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - The Nixxes connection explained - YouTube

If you are really bored, the developers explain the relationship with Nixxes.

This. But that first boss can fuck off.

  • Anyone see the footage on Xbox Live of the MW3 XP convention? What a bunch of fucking meatheads. THAT'S what's on the other end of the headset.

  • This. But that first boss can fuck off.

I've since rethought my initial views on the first boss. I revisited the save i made just before the boss fight, just to try and be a bit imaginitive.

So far my favourite way of killing him is to chuck one of the explosive cannisters at him then shoot it (it takes a couple of succesful goes), closely followed by a fluke where he killed himself with his own grenade outburst.

Any idea if you can get close to him and use a lethal takedown?

  • You can't. Get close to him and you don't see a menu appear - so instead he uses a lethal takedown on you. Picks you up, throws you down, then shoots you.

    Red screen.

    Bastard.

  • I am addicted to deathmatch on de_dust2_unlimited

its even overtaken my COD consumption

  • If you make sure to have some kind of explosive haul, then that helps with any boss. The first one I jusy EMPed then naded twice, only needed a few shots after that. Also keep a few praxis points if you're not sure where to use them. You'll know soon enough which Augs you actually need.
