Having not been able to beat the 1st boss coz all I had was a tranquillizer gun and a determination not to kill anyone else after letting the hostages die so was pure stealth and stun. The first boss made me mad so rebooted and started again and now an evil motherfucker...Everyone dies and I am armed and auged to the hilt. Grand theft Deus Ex!
(May try a replay later going stealthy if i calm down) -

Got bored of waiting for HMV to get their shit together so walked to Game and bought a copy of the regular edition there. Installing now. See you Monday.

oh holy god

a weird paradox in that my computer is struggling to run it so by default I have to play it slow and stealthy and explore everything.
very very very very impressive.
reminds me so much of the first albeit slightly more consoley in terms of interacting with things which is a shame but hardly a criminal offense.

Waits a week, and all he does is moan....

Cyoa, I'm really glad you are enjoying it... the only pitfall the boss fights.
DX:HR is a console game, it was ported by a third party to the pc.

SPOILEY SPOILERS:
Fuck.
It's 2am.
I've been playing since about 4pm
Only 1 kill so far (that bastard boss with the pillars - eighth attempt) oh and an EMP on that big robot thing at the FEMA base
Just arrived at The Hive club in China and now I think I need to go home to bed.
LOVING the constant references in the news to things like Versalife and Bob Page. Adam reminds me of JC far more than that Alex character in DE2 did. Well worth the wait.
Yeah I managed to let the hostages die as well - simply didn't realise where they were and all of a sudden it was "Adam, they're dead." Oh well.
I'm going to dream of double non-lethal takedowns tonight.

Oddly though, every review I've read has complained about the boss fights- but can you remember fighting Gunther and Navarre in the first game? They were just as bad.

Yes, but with the 1st Deus Ex, you could kill either/both of them before the actual boss fight. I took out Navarre with a proximity mine and a sniper rifle on the plane in Deus Ex 1. I loved the fact you could do that without then impacting the story.

And they had kill words, no?

Right. I've woken up. Going for lunch with Mother CYOA at Byron then back to the office probably until Monday to finish this shit. I'm taking a change of spare clothes.

^ This is the sort of dedication that I admire and respect.
I've really enjoyed HR, but it's a bit of a shame that trying to be completely stealthy actually punishes you in terms of xp gained. Completing objectives should give you a bonus based on how many enemies you *didn't *take down.
Almost finished it, but missed a fair few side missions along the way so will certainly be giving it another shot. Unfortunately I'm feeling a little sceptical that there weren't actually that many opportunities to alter the story significantly (would go into more detail but don't want to post spoilers). Guess I'll find out sooner or later.

I began reading that as relating to your experiences in Human Resources

i kind of agree with you brun. you did get an xp bonus of 250 for not setting off alarms, and 500 for not being seen, but that was per 'level' or section and werent high enough to make you feel like you achieved anything.

I HAVE saved Malik.

But I did break my non-killy vow by absolutely destroying all those guys with the Typhoon.
-
• #3394
didin't even think about that! presumed it just happened.
is the typhoon good? Never activated it.
On a side note, are you enjoying driver Kirth?

Just watched a dev interview for skyrim, and everyones getting dead excited that you can become a vampire in skyrim...
I'm so sure that happened to me in oblivion? Anyone?
Other than that, getting dead excited about being able to punch a butterfly.
-
• #3396
you can punch butterflies?!!
yes you could become a vampire in oblivion. you caught porphyric hemophilia from a vampire then changed after a couple of days. Made you vulnerable in sunlight and gave you the option to sneak into people's houses at night and bite their necks.
-
• #3397
You could also become a vampire in Morrowind. It may have been in previous games, too.
-
• #3398
thought so.
back to only caring about punching butterflies.

I've never played Driver, but been checking out video footage of this one. It looks pretty good, although the whole shifting thing is a bit strange.
The physics of the first few games was fantastic, same that was used in the first Stuntman game, so much fun to just slide the cars around. Keep us updated!

As far as I can see, it's back to being fun... there's a hidden mission thats the first level of driver too.
(worst part of driver 1... unskippable awfulness)
I'm not bothered about the weapon add-ons, really. But I want every mission I can get.
