Disclaimer: I do (when I can find the time) write for a gaming review website.

    Which site?

  • Which site?

    http://www.theaveragegamer.com/

Really, I am not a person who sits down and powers there way through a game and then tries to review it :) More like I play a game for a few months, then say something. Occasionally. If I remember what I was going to talk about ;)

  • Anyone getting LA noire?
    im quite tempted.

got it on preorder, but dont get paid til saturday, d'oh

  • I used to love mech warrior, that looks great

did you ever play the one in the trocadero years ago, where you go in a booth and play the other nerds who were queing up around you?

  • ha never, just on the pc, sounds like 'game master', except without patrick moore. did you ever play crazy ivan?

  • Yes. My parents dragged me to see The English Patient many years ago and treated me to it before the film. I ended up being good at it and they had to drag me off cause I made them late for the film.

  • So LA Noir.
It's compelling yet repetitive. It is atmospheric and engaging yet has a touch of uncanny valley about the characters. It is more interactive movie than game it is so linear and so easy as a proper puzzle game isn't satisfying. The running gunning and driving are GTA on valium. The jazzy soundtrack and attention to detail the objects in the game world make me keep going back for more. It a good game to have on the go with the frenetic crysis 2 for a more chilled gaming vibe

  • Thanks skydancer, I don't think I'll be buying it yet if I'm honest, I'll wait for it to come down in price.

  • ^or you can have mine when i'm done. probably not that replayable

  • I like it so far but i've only played two cases from the traffic desk so i'm not that far in.

You're right about the replay value though; once you've completed each case with 5 stars etc, there is no reason to play again. I'm hoping they'll bring out some uber DLC like with GTA 4.

  • Started playing LA Noire last night, got about 30-45 minutes of playing down.

I like it, the facial animation is something else, and it's narrative is very strong, much like Heavy Rain.

It's good, I'm looking forward to getting more into it.

I'll take you up on that chap. Let me know when :D

  • It's an interesting game isn't it.

It is really addictive, and keeps your attention. Really enjoying it.

Though only managed to get 4* on most cases. It appears I'm not that great at reading peoples faces...

  • I'd be surprised if there wasn't LA Noire: Zombies DLC at some stage.

  • Grabbing this next week. The only thing that concerns me is it was the repetitive nature of GTA4 that made me stop playing and ultimately sell it. But then I wasn't interested in following a tale of generic crime in a big modern city. The Film Noir thing might be enough to keep me roped in.

It's quite repetitive but the story is good.

I'm terrible at reading faces though :-s

  • I think it's not so much that I'm rubbish at reading reactions now, I think its because I don't think enough about how the evidence I've found could relate to the questions I'm asking... plus, on one of the cases I've just done, I replayed it because I kept fucking it up.

Every outcome was wrong. I have no idea what I could have done differently.

    Frustrating.

  • Waiting for Ed to do this on a fully loaded tourer.

  • sammy's are supposed to be pretty good for games... but it doesn't have freeview hd. If you're not bothered by that, sammy imo.

bought a really, really cheap one for work time xbox and it seems fine.

Thanks - that's what I been hearing too.

  • I'd wait for other peoples opinions on the matter before you wade in... I am in no way an authority on televisions, or their prowess for gaming.
