(Discalimer - I'm a massive BL fan)
Borderlands is great single player but definitely excels when you have a group of you. That said I'll generally take single player play over random pugs. Definitely worth playing and putting time in to even if you do only play it alone though.
BL2 is definitely the most accomplished of the series but I relatively recently played through BL1 again and while it's not quite as polished as 2 it's still very good and regularly super cheap. BL:TPS is probably the weakest of them but again still ploughed over 130 hours in to it but it just doesn't have the replay that 1 and 2 have. That said if you just want to run round blowing stuff up in reduced gravity with all the standard BL humour it's still good.

Bought "The Long Dark" yesterday, only a couple hours in but for a developing game it's great so far.
You've crashed in the Canadian wilderness and have to survive the cold, hunger, dehydration and animal attacks etc the usual stuff.
Interesting graphics, not attempting photorealism but still you feel immersed. The sound helps as well, when you run into a cabin during a storm and you hear the creaking and whistling of the wind.
Here's me about to die jusst before reaching the safety of a dam. (Although I was dying of exposure as well, this was because I was mauled by a wolf and didn't bandage myself up...)

I made it into the dam today.
Turns out there's wolves inside...

Cheers for all the various suggestions, will get looking on steam. Turns out I already own borderlands 2 but haven't played it yet.
Got rocket league yesterday as wanted a spilt screen 2 player game and these seem pretty rare on PC. Pretty entertaining so far

Suggestions for a co-op game for two PCs (one's a Surface Pro 3) on a local network? Not of the bomb-disposal type (whatever it's called), perhaps Baldur's Gate-ish?

Downloaded alien isolation the other day. have only played about half an hour but am hooked - it's beautiful. so lovingly designed. Definitely going to save it for a new computer though. Really deserves it.
Fallout 4 is going OK. Just arrived at the drive in and am dismantling it in a big way as I've heard it's a good location for proper base building (better than Sanctuary at least).
My laptop is struggling a bit with it but I'll plug away for now as I know it's a many-houred beast and can just port my saves over to the new computer when it arrives. Annoyingly can't find my razer mouse since we moved house so I've been using one of those horrible apple mouse things (the pre-magic version). This means, amongst other things, that I can't scope and shoot at the same time... I was using the trackpad only for a while - until I found a pack of feral ghouls. Though to be honest a fuck mole rat nearly did away with me in my trackpad days.

Alien isolation best played with headphones. Ace game on the xbone with Kinect, you can physically lean back while hiding in lockers and if you shout the alien hears you. It gets quite immersive.
I reckon I've spent as much, if not more, time hiding in/under things than I have really playing it. -

Yep. Tbh I'm toying with waiting for a projector as well so I can get it the size of a wall with my good studio 'phones for audio. Kinect sounds great though but I'm not a consoler to my shame and regret.

Ohhh. You're in for a 'What the fuck? Ahh! Run. Run. Run! Hide. Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck' over the next few months.

It was one of the first games I got for Mac (That and L4D2) and I'm yet to complete it, but it is enjoyable playing solo... "teaming up" is ok but it's not vital, the story line etc is pretty good, I think it's just the visuals that put me off a little (a bit too "cartoony").

Sounds interesting! This kinda thing needs to be brought to DayZ too, harsher environment.
I have used this mouse to game on for a while, it's not ideal...

I have one of those but I can never get on with it. At least the 'horrible apple mouse thing' Ves posted on the last page has a tangible click to it. Need to unpack and find the razer..

Aye, very true. I need to look into some wireless peripherals if I am going to keep my steam machine/windows box in the living room (do I just need a cheap bt dongle thing?).
I actually use the above mouse on DayZ a fair bit, often fire by mistake, it's not ideal. -

Mice are so 2015. Get yourself a rat for real gaming.

• #14548
I would like this rat that you speak of.

Just been given a Roccat Kone XTD, Isku FX and Kave XTD Stereo for Christmas.
Golly they are nice. best mouse I've ever had, Keyboard is stunning, and the 'phones are pretty lush too.
That was my feeling as well. Played the first one for a bit. Enjoyed it, but felt like I was wandering around a world that should be populated with more people than just myself.
