Aren't those all based on shooting shit up a lá Aliens? As opposed to running away and cowering like a little suit a lá Alien?
I've got Alien Trilogy, AvP and AvP2 and they all fit the bill.

Also on a general note regarding game reviews, I find it pretty important to find a reviewer who wants similar things from a game as you do. It sounds obvious but I see very little evidence of it occurring in the video games industry. One of the reasons why review scores (hello there IGN) tend to be pretty inaccurate.

I did play Opposing Forces. It must have been 1999 because I played that expansion thing straight afterwards.
Is that what you mean by Black Mesa? Or was that another pack/game?

Black Mesa is a fan project of very high quality:

I'm intrigued by Alien Isolation, doubt I'll buy it before it becomes cheap though.

Whilst we are talking about HL2 mods, I mentioned Minerva to a friend last night. Well worth a playthrough if you haven't yet

Just read some of the back-story; I'm pretty certain some of it is inspired by Marathon. Minerva's dialogue reminds me of Durandal a lot, and then there is this; https://hylobatidae.org/minerva/archive_4.shtml which seems to cement the tru7h

Yeah, they're all shooters with a certain degree of horror and suspense but they all fail in that manner. The best Alien game by far recently is the latest Aliens vs Predators, and it is actually a very good game but not enough people play it online.

• #12289
Was that the one where you could play as alien, predator or a marine?
It was average at best IMO. -
• #12290
Like he said, the best so far! I only remember playing the marine campaign and it decent. Good suspense building with the motion tracker but the ability to take down the aliens with relative ease ruins that quickly. Never got around to the multiplayer unfortunately. Alien Trilogy was basically just Doom with Aliens as far as I recall. Nothing spectacular really.
