Buyers logic.
Safety and comfort logic. I have to do the ratchet up so tight that it hurts the back of my head.

I don't know.
I suppose you could always fit this when going as fast as possible:
I'd get one of them for colder rides. Not having loads of unwanted vents when the air is chilly makes a massive difference.

I got the fluro-yellow one, on the basis that I'd probably use it if it was raining. And it was the only one in stock.

We have a Giro Monza as a spare at home but I tried this weekend and it's not so vent-y to me. The Atmos looks better but but about 50% more (£123) than a Whisper (£80).
I wonder if there are assumption made about the rider's head positioning when it comes to the road helmets - as in always on the hoods or drops - so ventilation is designed for that. I tend to ride quite upright so I wonder if that is half of the problem.
Aha. From Wired
http://www.wired.com/2014/06/giro-synthe-helmet/
Giro bases this claim on wind tunnel testing results and a formula that factors in 72 different yaw angles for a rider going 25 mph with a 30 degree head angle (the most common head angle whether riding in the hoods or drops).
So those assumptions are made.

I like the helmet:
However I decided that the fluro yellow of the cover was a bit abrupt:

Now I just need the matching Klein.

• #610
Paint the Talbot to match it?

• #611
You also go tattooed? Taking this customising lark a bit far, no?
-
• #612
That's not a tattoo, that's wiring on the surface of the skin to connect the HR strap to the Garmin watch. Talbot's new thing.
