Black and yellow, this one:
The Livestrong one is about £118, the normal Ionos is about £180, its a no-brainer really. And I like yellow.

I went mad on the yellow on my BMC.
I use Skins stuff for running and rugby, so decided to kit myself out for cycling too. Also very yellow.
A bargin livestrong helmet would complete the matchy match MAMIL look nicely.

Does anyone know anything about the Giro Savant? I UTFS but couldn't find anything. They seem fairly good for the money (<£40) and look alright too. Was wondering if anyone had used one.

MET Predatore is good if you've got a big head. Winstanleys has one going for £45.
Well this did it's job but now I need a new one:
That's a Giro Savant, which I bought because it was about the only one in the shop that fit, I have a big head. But I need more air flow next time around. I very nearly didn't wear a helmet that day because it was so hot. Wouldn't be here if I hadn't though.
What can people recommend for maximum airflow? Around the £100 mark.
I'm obviously now quite keen on Giro, but I also like Met and Kask. At the moment I'm looking at the Giro Ionos and Atmos - I love the Aeon but its a bit too pricey for me.
I haven't seen Kask helmets anywhere, and I don't buy anything without trying it on first. Who stocks them?

Giro Savant gets a big non-brain-damaged thumbs up from me, oh yes.
As you can see up there it took several big dings courtesy of the side and roof of a BMW, the door of a black cab and then the road - all within a 1-second window. There's more damage on the other side but its not as dramatic. Broken clavicle, and both the top tube and down tube of a steel frame bent all to hell, but not even a headache. Not sure that a lower-profile helmet would have saved me from the side impacts. Giro FTW.

Quite happy with my choice of helmet after reading this - Ive been using the Savant for several weeks now :-)

For fucks sake! How did I miss that? Ha ha. I might give it a go, I'll have a look at the met as well. Anything else to look at for less than £70-£75?

Unfortunately, it's Winstanleys.

Lazer O2 here, the fitting system is really nice, adjusts really well. Well vented, and with nice straps.
Thumbs up.

What's wrong with them? Was just about to buy some rims from them last night, but didn't get around to it.

Bad reputation, plenty about them on here.

Right! read the thread, or at least enough of it to know to find somewhere else. Cheers.

Having worn it for a couple of days (not in bed, I'd get a sore neck) I'm well pleased with the Giro Ionos. The vents are excellent and keep my head much cooler than the Savant and the pads inside are much better quality material and are shaped such that sweat runs down the sides of my face, rather than straight into my eyes.

Tried this on in Evans, http://www.evanscycles.com/products/louis-garneau/versa-helmet-ec033707 - fitted beautifully and the fitting system on the back was a breeze. Also it looks like it costs twice the price. Great for people with small heads - as close as I'll get to something that fits.

Pro-Tec Classic is good reasonably priced helmet - has AS/NZS certification, so gives high standard of protection - passed the anvil test and has required standard of impact attenuation - and no knobly bits to catch on curb and twist head.

I've cracked my Kask in half (again). Does anyone know if Kask do a replacement service like Specialized do?

Just like to say I picked up a Limar 777 helmet today for £40! Feels really nice, looks like a propper slim road helmet and is only 230g. For people looking for a smart low priced helmet it is one to look out for.
I got it in white too, I always get white helmets.
Black an yellow or squiggly lines?
I just noticed on Sunday that those lines are not a road map, but lots of superimposed signatures.
