  • Racist.

  • shit, I should of got the carbon one.

  • Purple

It always makes you look like you have been riding hard.

  • Thread bump!

Really like the look of Catlike helmets, Why the hell cant I find one thats white & medium?

Anyone know somewhere that has them in stock ?

    Edit: Tfg has them, result!

  • catlikes are the bomb.
hoping to get one for chrimbo

  • Did you write to Santa and have you been good all year?

  • I have indeed. Very good.

  • Anyone have experience of the Carrera Pistard? Not found may reviews online but my LBS seem to think it's a good lid for the money.

  • So my dad said he'd get me a new helmet for my Xmas pressie which basically involves me going out to buy one and he'll pay me back. Ah the magic of Christmas.

Anyway I'm going to do just that on Saturday and was wondering if anyone has any good recommendations of shops with a wide range of helmets.

I'm after something that my head goes IN rather than something that sits ON TOP OF my head. I like the look of the Catlike Whisper but that's at the very top end of my budget.

    1. Any recommended shops in south/central/west London? (LBS or chain I don't care but I'd only ever buy a helmet in person)
    2. Any similar helmets to the Catlike Whisper, bearing in mind an absolute top budget of £100?

    Thanks babes xoxox

  • I found Condor had the best helmet range but I'm not sure if that's too far east for you.

They have some Kask helmets in that range that I found really comfortable (I think they're called either Mojito or K10)...

If you can find any sales I'm really happy with my Giro Aeon, though they are a bit pricey (it was £130 four/five months ago).

  • Cheers. Yeah Condor might be first on the list. I'm also going to pop into Apex Cycles in Clapham, simply because I've never been in there and it looks like a decent place.

  • ^reported for spam

  • I've gone and registered and they only have small. I dunno how big my head is but it ain't small :)

  • they often have helmets come up from various manufacturers, plus loads of other bargains.

  • I've been riding a Catlike Whisper since Christmas and love it.
It's the first helmet that feels legitimately comfortable

  • i have one white for road duties, and one black for offroad

    they are awesome

  • I've gone and registered and they only have small. I dunno how big my head is but it ain't small :)

they have the kompakto in other sizes and the visor can be removed

  • So I got the Mavic Syncro from Condor in the end. £80 but can be found online for £70-odd.

The M size fits like a glove and the strap system's comfy. However, it has two really annoying polystyrene nubs at the front that are digging into my head. To cut/file them off or HTFU until they're pushed down by repeated wearing?

  • Did it come with the little tool to file two grooves in your forehead?

Improves fit and comfort no end.

  • I'm going to ask my barber to cut my hair in a comfortable yet aerodynamic way next time.

  • I'm getting one of these for winter cycling (and skiing).

Wearing a flimsy helmet, to save weight, and be heavily ventilated. Then covering it, and layering under it. Making it warm and heavy. Seems illogical. May as well just have better protection.

  • ^Was ist das?

  • a helmet with built in earphones, can't wait for the music whilst riding police to come along

  • improves your eyesight and sense of smell

  • Thats a mistake on my part. Thats not the model I'm buying.

The POC Receptor Bug has loads of removable bits of insulation, even the bits covering the ears come off. Plus the vents can be blocked or left open, so its pre tunable. I currently ride with a beanie + roadie helmet + a helmet cover. Which isnt comfortable, and doesnt protect as well as a ski helmet. Might even be able to use totally stripped on summer trails. Never felt my road cycling gear was suitable for rocky off-roading.
