  • No, you have set a precedent for refs to get it wrong, not the same thing.

Wrong/change rules; potato/potato. In either case, what the ref says, regardless of the rules, becomes attached to the result of the game.

And if you overturn the refs decision, on whose authority are we doing it? A majority vote of the league players?
Ideally the ref would recognize that what they did was in fact, not actually part of the rules we are playing by, and say they made a mistake. Everyone would be happy. If, in an extreme case (like the soon to be BAD disqualified form playing Beards), we'd probably have to have a league vote. Or let it stand.

  • Go play polo.

  • yes for my part, if everybody is happy I call it change

I wouldn't be happy at all!

  • I wouldn't be happy at all!

    why not mister presy??

  • If a ref makes an error that all agree is an error, it should be changed!

Personally, as part owner of the league, I feel that either a unanimous agreement of the 6 players involved or majority of league players present could overturn a ref's call with a majority of all league players giving the ok for the possibility of overturning the call in question.
But that's quite a process to go through and I'm not sure the league is up for it...

  • ha!

  • It's an appalling precedent to go back and change results after games have finished.

  • This is Zimbabwe London my friend.

  • It's an appalling precedent to go back and change results after games have finished.

Let's hope this works out for the BAD/Beards game!

(Wait, does not changing it make it a precedent? Sweet).

  • I'm inclined to agree with mike, if all 6 players, or all league owners present at the game concur, then change the result.

  • matt, can you take me off your list, i love you.

  • matt, can you take me off your list, i love you.

not according to the tags ...

  • that's still love, rough love.

  • It's no less fallible to allow the ref to respond however they choose and stops the players manipulating a game's result (not that I think anyone would).

Rik's spoken, so now we follow his path of action. This should be the precedent in my opinion.

The ref will always be in a dangerous position of power, opening up decisions to anyone else simply allows more room for error/manipulation, it does not make for a more honest/accurate game.

There is a reason that the ref's decision is final. Sport 101.

  • not according to the tags ...

According to the tags there's no love between anybody in polo.

  • precedent

  • yeah

  • I agree and desagrree with Mike, only the 6 players should have a say, no all the league [players present, they may be interested in count the goal or not

  • For sure, refs should admit mistakes. The foundation of the sport unravels if you change results after a game has finished. I would say that it probably would not be sport anymore.

Jeez, what is the problem with accepting the ref's call? Even if the ref is wrong? That's sport.

  • ^ good point rik, but surely both halves of the 6 players also have their own interests at heart?

  • I'm with Bill. I love Bill.

  • I love you all, apart from Gabes.
