  • yes it is bacon and caramel, together at last

Now, if ever there was a way to make it up to the Bacon Gods for missing International Bacon Day on Saturday - this is it! ;-)

Although my money's on the Bacon Explosion!
    (click pic for recipe)

  • FUck Yeah

  • I vote C&H in Clapham as venue, as they will happily let us take it over.
but then I would as it's close. Failing that - somewhere central - like SouthBank - tho we would have to find a friendly venue.
Shame summer is pretty much over as this would have been prime picnic territory.
I'm glad I will get to use the basket I bought for cake carrying mind you.

    1. Best cake with booze
    2. Best Cookie/Biscuit/FlapJack etc
      3. Best Alternative Cake - sweet cake with un-usually non-sweet ingredients
    3. Bestly Decorated
    4. Best Tart

ok how about alternative cake in place of banana? courgette and lemon, caramel Bacon, Cherry and beetroot etc etc wide open really

  • As long as it's not a Sunday count me in.

    1. Best Tart

    Dancing James?

  • Does anyone have a link or know the landlord at the C&H? I'm happy to organise it all if needs be but if someone already has ties there it would be a whole load easier.

Shall we say the weekend after the BFF, 3rd or 4th October. What do people think of those dates?

  • Dancing James?

    boom-tish

  • if you need a taster/judge i'm right here.

  • .

  • I would prefer not to have a seperate vegan catagory, This Cake Is A Pipe Bomb is NOT health food, it contains over 9 bars of chocolate.
I am utterly convinced that my cake can stand up to McTorture cake any old day ;-)

Snowy has good contacts with Steve at the C&H. 3rd or 4th October looks a go-er to me.

Big boasts.... let's see if the ovengloves can bounce the cheque that mouth writes..

cool, I'll have a chat with him at the tarck day.

  • I'll be there tonight also, I'll have a word with Steve the landlord and see if it's feasible

  • Nice one, all we need is a few tables really. A room to ourselves would be ace but I'm sure we could survive without one.

  • There is an upstairs room that we can usually get in the C&H - think it has an ipod speaker in as well for Cakey/Bright Times tunes.

  • Calling Nhatt/Oliver/other vegan bakers, do you have any good vegan biscuit/cookie recipes (no nuts please).

I think nut free vegan biscuits is about as inclusive as I can be for prizes.

I'm afraid I can't bake, so, no, unfortunately I can't provide recipes that I can vouch for.

I'd be more than happy to help with vegan baking if instructed well, but as of right now I've never learned it. I'm sure it's not that difficult, though, and I'm not such a bad cook.

  • I make some vegan ginger chewey oaty things with no nuts, but I've done them so many times I sorta freestyle it these days.

The best vegan cookies BAR NONE are cashew nut butter ones, so that's a shame for your nut allergy.

  • Not my nut allergy I just didn't want to exclude anyone from accepting their prize.

That's a very good thought. My brother-in-law has a nut allergy and it's sometimes quite difficult to manage.

  • Selim is gluten intolerant.

I've been thinking about writing a cookbook about the hardest to feed couple in the world.

  • I'm IN - you're going to have to compete with these bad boys though. What a superb idea this is! Not easy to transport on a bike - but I managed this morning without too many casualties.
