I don't know! I think it's an old valve PA head with two column speakers through some outboard "ADT" effect.

My favourite guitar is this broken little Chinese thing that lives in a cupboard in our office. Thought you guys might enjoy
The neck is totally screwed, (obviously) it's a classical guitar and whoever owned it put normal steel acoustic strings on it and broke the neck due to the tension. So anywhere between 8 and 12th fret, the strings contact the 12th fret and basically none of those work. Also it only has 4 tuning pegs, you're forced to tune it to the middle two and hope for the best. Of course "tune" here means "turn the pegs a bit until you give up" because they're not properly screwed into the headstock so only stay "in tune" for about 10 seconds. It has a 0th fret for some reason as well.
It sounds like total shit of course but I love playing it when I've got nothing to do for 10 minutes in the office. I have, you know, an actual Gibson and other nice things, but spend vastly more time playing this, naturally
Edit: happened to have the camera in the office and decided to take some pictures of it out of boredom. Forgot to get one of the whole guitar, apologies

If it's a cheapo chinese guitar, then this is possibly because it lets them put much less (no) effort into cutting the nut slots properly, or lets them put different strings in without needing a different nut.

Yeah. You can see how deep the slots are in the second pic
-
• #5882
Yeah, it just spaces them across the fretboard doesn't it - I guess it also lets them drop the same nut onto lots of guitars as well.

I have that strap on my sunburst Tele! Would buy but life.

Thanks guys. I'm not exactly a rainbow-y sort of person but everyone should own something totally out of character.

All my guitars have wildly overpriced Souldier owl print straps because... dunno

We've had one of the two acoustics at work tuned to open E for the last few weeks, we've got a client with Downs syndrome who loves to play and open tuning has really increased the enjoyment he gets out of playing... I've been playing around on it and love it, it's taken me 'til now to realise that you can still play all the Keef stuff by moving your fingers down a string... MIND BLOWN! So much fun...

A mate's stolen guitar just popped up on my FB feed, stolen back in the early 90s in Redfern, Sydney, now for sale in Bondi, Sydney... Amazing... I'm now posing as a buyer while he calls the cops and does things from his end...
Here's the guitar back in '86 with me playing bass in the background, the guitar now and the homage that Tym made last year... #amateursleuth

very high quality soldering iron
I took a class in amp building once from the guy at Vyse Amps, and he had one bit of advice as far as solder went: get the solder with the lead in it. The more lead, the better. He used a fairly cheap soldering iron but he used proper lead solder and it made things so much easier.

He's talking to the cops now... The seller has given me his full name, street and email addresses and mobile number... He thinks I'm paying for it this weekend and Erin is gonna pick it up on Monday night... I feel a bit sorry for him...

Nice!

@>>>>>>, you reckon seller is the perp' or has it changed hands a few times down through the years?
-
• #5895
Amazing guitar, way ahead of its time... Coronado neck?
-
• #5896
No way. Exciting shit.
Empathise with feeling sorry for the guy. He probably has no idea. I ended up having a protracted email correspondence with the bloke who was charged with fencing my stolen bike a couple of year ago.

it's crazy, seems to happen quite often that stolen guitars seem to get reunited with their legit owner decades later.
good for your friend.
matey boy probably didn't steal it though. sucks for him

• #5898
Let's see if he's made any progress with the cops today, I think he was getting the runaround yesterday... When it was stolen in Sydney he lived in Perth, I think it's confusing the old bill...
If all else fails I'll just buy it and get the money back by crowd funding... They're going out on their very first US tour soon, this'll be a nice little story to help sell it...

• #5899
Looks like it might wind up in my possession if the po-po don't get their shit together... I'd be happy with that, Kim isn't that bothered about it... Right, I'd better sell a couple of guitars...

ideally the police would storm in just as the perp was playing the chorus, and then the rightful owner would finish the solo as they walked him out in cuffs.
#overthinkingit
That sounds ace, what is it?
