  • Thats amazing!

  • Nice guitar dude. Some interesting stuff in the backround there. What's the Vox? and is that a Mesa Boogie?

  • I've been bingeing on those Andertons TV things. I've even overcome my aversion to the Pedal Show presenters to watch a load of them. Hence my current jones for a Uni-Vibe type thing.

Think I need to give my 2001 USA Tele some love too. It's aged so beautifully in a number of ways but the thick (presumably poly?) finish isn't one of them. The finish on the neck has a few big cracks on the back and despite the paint fading dramatically and a load of chips and bangs, the body finish is still thick, shiny and unworn. Thinking of stripping back the neck and maybe... doing something with the finish on the body too...

  • Sadly those are the seller's photos and thus that's their gear, not mine! A Mesa amp would be an absolute dream for me...

I've just got an Orange Micro Terror which is hilariously cute but actually quite fierce hahaha

...and yes, two humbuckers no less. I love the Tele shape and its twangy country background but I listen to loads of styles of music including metal and punk, so was after something with a bit of versatility.

  • Ahhhh. Yep. very cool.

  • I quite like the pedal show as a total noob to pedals its quite a good watch.

  • I really want a proper Tele unlike my Deluxe, amazing as it is, ideally an Esquire... Played a beautiful Steve Cropper machine last week, light, really bitey bridge pickup and very, very easy to play...

It's a disease, innit? I don't even know what I'd do with it... The new Jag is keeping me busy, so many sonic possibilities...

PS So the trem on a Jag only goes down, right? Unlike a Strat... Bit disappointed about that, got a song with a two string riff that needs to go up a semi tone but can't play it on the Jag... Am I doing something wrong? The little locking switch on the trem doesn't seem to do much...

  • Same! no room, can only play one at a time but want them all!! Theres no cure!

If youre crazy and have a spare £800 you could drop it on these https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/BOX-40/eq-pedals/boss-compact-pedal-40th-anniversary-box-set

  • I love the Esquire! I don't know why but the single pickup and single knob just looks amazing on the Tele body shape. So clean.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of tremolo systems now. I love how dusty guitar technology is! Proper radio-age shiz. Is your Jaguar a "floating tremolo" system?

  • That pedal set is crazy. I wonder who they got to build those, maybe the guy who built the originals!

It feels like pedals are almost a separate hobby. Separate from music and guitars, they're electronics! It was great fun replacing the pickups in my cheap guitar, I can see how people get into the more complex stuff for pedals

  • It's a standard Jag vibrato but I'm only starting to scratch the surface with them, always played hardtail guitars up until now... I'm essentially a no0b...

  • The first thing that comes up when I search for Jag Trem on google has natty cutaway diagrams.

(I should probably do some work)

  • Hi @diceface long time lurker chiming in here, but it looks like your new Cabronita suffers the same problem mine did with the strings not aligning properly with the pole pieces - most noticeable on the B and E. Fender installed the wrong bridge on a big batch of the Mexican Cabronitas, and I think they only rectified it for the US version.

It might not bother you, but if it does it's a dead easy swap:

Axecaster produce a direct drop in replacement which thankfully doesn't require any extra drilling. They also do a stainless saddle version which I emailed and asked them not to 'age', so it was nice and shiny to match the rest of the hardware. They come with nice short saddle screws too, so the bridge is smooth on the hand.

The only issue I've found is I had to remove some of the springs to get the saddles far enough back for proper intonation, but that's not a problem. Annoyingly I still can't get perfect intonation the low E, but it's barely noticeable when you're playing high up on the neck - and less pitch difference than heavy handed fretting would cause anyway, especially as I've got it tuned a whole step down.

Hope that helps - enjoy it!

  • Argghhh, nooo. I bought a "nice" guitar to avoid problems like that haha.

I'm a total perfectionist so, whilst this is welcome knowledge, I'll now have to deal with it!

Thanks for the links! I'll check them out. Looks like I'll be getting my hands dirty again :D

  • Yeah it is a bit annoying, especially as they weren't exactly budget guitars when they came out! Still, I think the replacement bridge is much nicer than the Fender one anyway, so it's a worthy upgrade, especially with the stainless saddles.

  • I'm reading some more forums and they go into even more depth. 9/16" vs 9/18" string gap!

I will have to wait until I get the actual thing in my hand before I decide what to do. I was just so stoked that I posted the pics here haha

  • It's pretty damn obvious when you've got it in front of you - mine was easily several mm out, but it's perfect in terms of the pole piece position now.

And you should be stoked - I love mine. Just so simple, but can cover so many styles with ease. The pickups are particularly good - they give it that edge so you can get really heavy, but they clean up really nicely too.

  • Nope, have a spare!

  • I love browsing that Reverb site. I would probably never buy anything but it's amazing what's out there. Black Sabbath drummer's knackered old drum heads? yeah! nah :|

Edit: Just went there and saw this to add to your link @Orca :D
    https://reverb.com/news/billy-corgan-artist-shop-preview

Edit Edit: There's some serious vintage gear in there! 50's, 60's & 70's stuff and a Gibson Flying V with a Bigsby!

  • Yup some truly ridiculous stuff on there. Some of those Corgan battered strats are gorgeous.

  • Totally in love with my Jag, why did I wait over 30 years to buy one?!?

Jaguar + a bit of delay + Twin Reverb with reverb on 10 = Heaven #oldman

  • Literally nothing in the world like it.

  • Oh, man... It was the first guitar I really wanted, couldn't afford one... Better late than never I guess... :)

  • And it makes you play surf style, which I'm enjoying tremendously...
