Doesn't necessarily have to be a fender jazz, I just wanted something a bit more classic sounding as my Warwick too much growl for our current stuff (plus I don't need a 5 string now) so thought fender would be the safe option.
I'll try listing it over there and see what is offered my way...

5 strings?
music man?

Fuck that, 5 strings <<<<
Fender are a bit shit, for the money. US don't have great QC. If you're set on one, get a Japanese one. If you want a fender 'style' bass, look at sandberg, moon, iceni/zoot bass, can't think of others that are more realistically priced equivalents. Obviously sadowsky et al are great but they're definitely the pricier end of that market.

We used to play in B - tried on a 4 string but the strings were so slack it was disgusting.
Really love the Warwick but we've mellowed a lot since our teenage years. It does still sound great for other stuff, just not really what we're doing now.
Maybe it does have to be a fender jazz, I'm intrigued by the sound of these smaller makers but not a music man, that's a different sound/look all together.

Oh and keep an eye out for old japanese 70s fender copies. Some of them are great, I've got a really nice old tokai P copy. Spent £180 on it inc. Hardcase, stuck a nice wizard pickup in it and it sounds great. Don't use it that much but good to know I've got that classic tone/look for the gigs that need it. They're not all amazing though, best to have a play first.

Dooks, I kinda lost track, but if you still have time, step the fuck away from a ZT Lunchbox. No volume and teh toan of poo. Used older AER is the way. A mate sold one mates' rates for 350-ish last year. Maybe I could even get that one back.

I had a lovely tobacco burst washburn as my first bass.

For realz? Close one. Thanks Rickster.
Was watching a Trace Acoustic TA100 on ebay which was up for £230 but closed with no bids. Was going to make the guy an offer but held back as it's the bigger 4x5" one and doesn't look all that portable. I played though the little 2x5" one last night again and it's flippin' great.
will look at used AERs now as well. Cheers buddy!

Oh, meant to say that the Gallien Krueger sounded amazing last night. Was an absolute joy to finally play with a great upright sound.
We found the fault as well. It was the bolt attaching the handle touching on something in the chasis causing an earth fault. Took it apart, cleaned it up, tidied up the wiring, checked all the connections and put it back together. Chuffing great little amp.

That fuckin' amp... it was a Session 1x15" combo. Bought it in a junk shop in Brighton, lugged it to the station then all the way home in a cab which cost more than the amp: realised it was fucked, used it as a prop in that video then left it on the street outside a charity shop in the snow while moving house.

I have one for sellz. It has an old school narrow neck, so feels like an electric jazzbox or something in the fretting hand, great for "thumb over" chords.
Will do you a very reasonable local only price.
I'll have one of these... I'll sell you the extra pick-up I don't need... Special plice!!!
