Personally, I like TS9s.
Anyone got a dirty distortion or fuzz for sale?
I got a (I think USA) big muff and a brand new DS-1. let us know

Ooh that's a lovely one, is the bridge a Fender with replacement brass saddles? Hard to find a Tokai with a proper ashtray like that... most were six-saddle.
That's not mine, but I thought it was the same. Now you mention it I'm pretty sure that is an aftermarket bridge, I'm pretty sure mine has 6 as you mentioned, I'll check when I get home.
I have a TS-9 (not for sale) and I love it. Took me a while to adjust to after selling a Marshall amp, but it's a more mature and less Metallica sound.

quick question, if an amp head has been connected to the mains during a power surge (and is no longer working properly), is the cab likely to be damaged as well?
unfortunately i don't have access to another head to test the cab; the amp is turning on and briefly producing sound but nothing is coming through the headphones/cab after that. it's a marshall valvestate as well so i can't go poking around it with the hope of fixing it because it's all on pcb.. plus there are a load of caps in there which could probably still manage to kill me..
thanks!
I should think the cab will be fine and it's the amp that needs work.

yep thanks, a quick look inside the amp suggests that the caps are fucked. i just feared the worst that's all.

This morning I broke out the soldering iron and set about upgrading my Squier Jazz fretless bass. I picked this up from EBay a while ago, and had never been that happy with the look of the thing. The scratch plate was knackered looking, and amateurishly chopped around the pickups. It also had extra holes for a long departed pickup cover. It didn't match up to the control plate either.
The other problem with the bass was that it was hard wired to have both pickups active. It had a stacked blend pot which the previous owner had bypassed because, as I found out when I tried to reinstate it, it just didn't work. I wanted proper controls anyway, with 2 volume and 1tone. So armed with 3 genuine Fender 250k solid shaft pots to replace the cheap originals, the correct cap, a new Fender control plate, a new black pearl scratch plate and a new set of flatwounds, I ended up with this:
It sounds great, everything works, and I am so pleased with the result -

I met a guy last week who fixes amps and pedals (total electronics nut/boffin), he's a cyclist and a lovely chap... I'm gonna let him have a crack at my ToneBenders and Dipthoniser before I let him loose on the amps... Will let you know how I get on...

What was the pedal you used at the second fucktones gig TS? That was a big gnarly nasty sound.

I think I posted some pictures of this a few months back. My guitar so far - did the fretslots last night using a very manly circular saw.
I've only got the fretboard and the bridge to go, though the setup and finishing of it will obviously take a little while. It's taken about three years to get to here (at two hours a week in term time), and it should definitely be finished in the next 2 - 3 months. Hopefully... I've said that before though...

Great work. Must be brilliant to play your own built guitar.
You self taught or getting lessons? -

I go to the evening classes at London Met, it only runs for a couple of hours a week which is why it's taken so long. The tutors are the same guys that run the BA courses, so loads of experience and skills flying around there.
I hadn't used a plane or done any accurate woodwork before starting though. -

sorry this slipped my mind. It's in good nick, only used at home. £30?
I need to pick it up from my mums place though, which would be a week from this sunday earliest I'm afraid.
I'll make a sales thread for it then.

no worries. i'm not sure if the muff is quite the right thing tbh... i'm tempted but i only run tiny little amps (sf champs) and i'm worried all that smothering bassy fuzzzz will be wasted on such a wee set up.
^^that home made guitar project is fantastic. i'd love to try that one day.

Thanks :)
unharmed - are you starting on the 7th? (I think that's the start date for the next semester...). I go Tuesdays - give me a shout if you're there.(And bring good locks if you're riding, I'm pretty sure at least one person has lost their bike and security won't let you bring it inside)

I'm doing it with a friend and I think it will be Monday nights actually (so the 6th then). I've made a few electrics but I'm self-taught so I'm sure I have many bad habits and am looking forward to learning the 'proper' ways to do things.
I was going to ask about the bike-parking situation actually - thanks for the warning.

If you are not looking for mojo, just get a behringer. They are clones of some of the best boss pedals amongst others. They are so cheap, it would be extravagant to say they cost peanuts.
-
• #1697
i have a behringer that has had very little use, if our interested ts. i got given an akai analog delay for xmas and i cba to put it on ebay.
say a tenner?

• #1698
Brill, I'll take it! :)
Is it OK? I only need it for one song, I hate delay pedals so don't really wanna shell out for a Boss...
