Any nerds out there got a surplus reverb pedal ? I'm on the lookout for something good but affordable and prices seem cray cray even on evilbay. lusting after a keeley caverns but on a berhinger budget...

Have you looked at Sonicake? There pedals are well priced and seem pretty good judging by the reviews. No first hand experience though…

Looking forward to this Synth and Pedal Expo this weekend, though the Overground being off and a band practice at 2 means I'll only be able to have about an hour there. Hopefully be alright for a wander around though.

That's pretty niche!
I was imagining what the crowd at a synth pedal expo would be like, then I scrolled to the bottom & it's like the image was beamed directly from my mind onto the screen 😂 -

What would you be using it for? The TC Skysurfer sounds really good in demos and I think it's about 40 quid. Wouldn't be my choice for anything too ambienty or shoegazey but looks like a very solid and affordable all rounder otherwise.

Yeah I think it started in Brooklyn back in 2011 so I'm expecting a very specific vibe. The 'Bring Your Own Guitar' advice gives me a bit of smile too, though imagine there's going to be a few people walking round with some expensive guitars which could get sketchy (I will have mine too, but I promise it's because I've got to go straight to the practice from it and not because I'm going to plug into every bass pedal I can find with no intention of purchasing).

Nice tip - thanks - maybe I’ll pair that with the tc bucket brigade.
Dunno what I want really - probs more toward the analog rather than crispy digital. Currently listing to a lot of glitchy sad girl indie like phoebe Bridgers , big red machine, etc but I’ve never really nailed what music I actually want to make and I pretty much like all genres bar modern metal -

Looks v versatile and cheeep !! - will give it a look n listen

I quite like my JHS 3 Series Reverb (not the 3 Series Hall Reverb) as a slightly leftfield quirky reverb that has some modulation in it and can go quite big/spacey. I think it has a nice sound. It does have a noticeable click when you activate it though, which I'm not a fan of on reverb pedals. Not a problem if you just leave it on all the time. :)
They're also not the cheapest (although they are cheap for USA made pedals) but you regularly see sales on them.

Any interest in a late 90's mexican standard Tele? Nice midnight blue finish, with just a few scratches and dings here and there but overall good condition. Ignore the dogshit humbucker in the neck, I can supply the original pickup too.
The specs are here.
Looking for £250 collected from Bromley.

Came across an Instagram post with everyone in the comments slating him because he did a video comparing a cheaper older overdrive pedal with more expensive stuff saying it’s really good or something. Prices have since rocketed on the pedal and people were banging on about how he hypes up pedals that he has a load of to bump up price and and profit. I’ve always just thought he was a big collector who liked showing all his stuff whilst also doing the opposite and show that some of the stuff out there is actually overhyped and overpriced and showing alternatives so seems a weird take.

Yeah, I don’t think he’s hyping stuff to personally profit. He comes across as a guy that couldn’t sell a vintage pedal if he tried. He’s an obsessive.
Some of the other criticisms of him are maybe a bit more valid, eg profiting off other peoples designs/circuits - a Devi Ever fuzz being the most well-known one. He stopped making a klon clone supposedly out of respect for the original designer (maybe they started making one again?) but still makes the Cheez Ball (Big Cheez clone) even though the original Lovetone designer is super pissed off about it.

Hes deffo not gonna make any profit on selling his collection. I mean he will I guess if hes selling them for more than he paid but he has enough companies and assets he wouldn't notice it, is my point. No I don't think he's super rich but making 200 bucks isn't gonna be noticed...
The circuit thing, an exercise in ethics, possibly.
If JHS' copies weren't more successful than the original then I would imagine then Devi and Vlad(?) wouldn't have a care. Also, those pedals RRP is all the original manufacturer ever got, not the resale value.
They've been paid.
There was a call for cheaper alternatives than heritage 2nd hand units.
It was answered.
JHS' brand has made their circuits successful and I understand that being a hard pill to swallow, especially if he doesn't pay tribute (he does to an extent) how they expect/want.He hasn't done anything illegal, all circuits evolve from each other and "owe" each other, you copy and modify in your research.
He stopped making Klons because the KTR came out. I'm pretty sure Bill was aware of it all too.

demonfx ripped off keeley reverb/delay workstation.

I just really enjoy the jamming to be honest - so refreshing to hear weirder / fun stuff on product demos - compared to the topgear classic dad blues rock they do on Andertons all the time. Drummer is tight.

hello fretters and strummers – bit of a leftfield question and there's probably no real answer, but how do people find playing and/or singing in a terraced house? I've been v lucky for the last 5 years in that I live in a flat, but the only neighbours have it as their second home, and we're otherwise detached so I do whatever I like while theyre not around.
now moving, and I'm wondering whether I'll ever be able to play the piano, and how much effort I may go into to soundproof the loft... (piano not going up there, obv)
-
• #13544
Have you got an acoustic piano or would you consider something electric? A nice electric one would be no problem whatsoever as you can just turn it down but I suspect an acoustic piano would travel quite well through walls...
In other help requests I'm thinking very strongly about selling my PRS Custom 22 (the one I had refinished by Rich in Wales) to purchase a Lowden F-22 acoustic...
Am I mad? -
• #13545
acoustic piano, sentimental value and the difficulty of getting rid combine to the result of keeping it. I very rarely play it but this also means im not very good. Has ended up on the past few recordings with my band though
-
• #13546
I'd say just pull it away from the wall and stick a duvet over it if the neighbours turn out to be unsound about it?

I watch everything on that channel, even the sort of lame video essays Josh does. The jams are good, the mix sounds good, the levels however. Whew, 6 fuzz demos in 20 mins keeps me on my toes for sure.
I was just offering some cheap reverbs for you :)
-
• #13548
yeah that should do the trick. we havent even picked a house yet (well, one was nearly done then fell through, which was semi, but thats a different thread) so the eventual config is all to play for to a degree.
Guitar stuff should be alright really as I have a THR5. The singing is where it might get weird. I'll report back if there are any neighbourly requests for us to perform fewer exorcisms

Much appreciated. If anyone cares - after faffing around looking at shit way out of my price range, losing various ebay auctions - I bought a Caline Snake Bite Reverb (black - lots of mystery knobs) and a Nux Analog Delay (cheap and pink) . Now looking at boss tremolo and overdrives. But do I need overdrive or just use the terror stamp boost channel ?
I'm going to build a cab too with some ikea pine shelves and a speaker from Watford Valves . -

I did a fair bit of playing and singing sometimes -(mostly taylor swift covers obvs) ;-P - during lockdown. We're in a 60's terrace with zero sound insulation. I just decided to own it and not be a dick and do it late at night. Depends what music you are making but I reckon most people actually don't care a bit of one man balladry drifting across the suburbs..
Finally got around to properly setting up my guitar, and while I'm a self-confessed Steinberger fanboy, their R-Trem is such a wonderful design (even if it's on the more basic side of their trems).
A Floyd Rose style bridge that's easily locked in place, and super easy to set tension against the strings. As well as saddles that are able to be moved independently and easily (recently tried setting the intonation on my other guitar with a Tune-O-Matic style bridge and turning the little intonation screws was a proper faff with the strings in place). Never thought I'd come away from my first guitar setup with positive opinions on the process
Also while the double ball end strings are a bit more pricey and limit your options, they're so damn quick and easy to switch!
Also, is it common for guitars to be initially sent with stupidly high action? Mine were all sitting around the 4-5mm level, gives a good workout I guess! Or maybe just to prevent negative customer reviews around fret buzz?
