I concur with Fatooks, the trad shape looks good in your drawing. It could look really cool, perhaps, if you were to boil down the headstock geometry, similar to what you did with the body and pickguard?

^new name accepted
csb warning: i was dooks "on here" from back in the fixiewars of '07, but I couldn't be arsed to transfer the account when Lord Velocio migrated the forum. I've had loads of stupid names over the years and decided to append my OG forum name to my current fat-shame based moniker on a whim the other day. It's a bit clunky tho so yeah, might be time for a username mergatron...especially as i've lost a bit of heft lately!

Oh these are so great! I've actually been toying with the idea of buying a modular aluminium neck from a guy I found on Instagram too... could be a pretty cool combination!

Rad. would be very 50/60s space race vibes

Wouldn't it! I might get back to you on this one man... have you built one yourself yet?
Also has nice Millimetric vibes about it.

No - you are very welcome to the drawings any time - I would love to do it but don't have right tools - I could do all the finishing and screwing together / soldering etc - template and routing a body to fit a neck is the hurdle...

template and routing a body to fit a neck is the hurdle...
If you were genuinely interested to do this, I do have all the tools for it (including a telecaster (or strat) neck pocket template, and body templates so we'd be able to get the bridge and pickups in the right place) and would be up for making a body - I really dig the shape of it. I've got a bit of a backlog so a neck's not possible at the minute.
We can get the Welsh finishing wizard to paint it :)

If @christianSpaceman builds the body, then I could probably whip up a neck and make the pickguard, if you like? I haven’t got anything on at the moment.

I think neck #4 looks really good, if you prefer 3-a-side, much nicer than a snakehead.

Yeh #4 is my fave too. And thanks all - sounds expensive tho - I couldn't justify big funds on this now tbh. You are all welcome to use the design if you fancied trying it.
If any of you made a template - maybe in time I could save to have a body done form a cheap blank to strap a second hand neck to... ;-)

Reminds me a little of Ruby guitars model 01.

Chris sent me a template, I borrowed a router, I made a perfectly serviceable guitar body!
A great summer project.(I mean I haven't actually totally finished it yet but it plays lovely)

I'm sure you've posted pictures of this before - but delighted to see that it's still in service - looks good!

I’ve had a word with Chris - we’re both happy to do it for the cost of parts and shipping (and we’ve got a bunch of spare bits sitting around, so not even that in some cases), so if you’re able to do the finishing and provide/fit the hardware then it’d be an awful lot cheaper than you might imagine.
Have a think about it, and we can discuss in PM if you’re interested.

dips toe in
Wotcher all. Looks like there are a fair few people who know about guitar building/repair on this thread. I wonder if there's a forum 'go-to' for refinishing? I've an early 80s JV Strat that an ex-girlfriend put a ding in a while ago and have been meaning to get it fixed for ages. It's tobacco sunburst, so might be a bit tricky (yes, the ding is in the colour bleed bit), but I wondered if anyone round here does that kind of repair and, if so, what kind of ballpark cost it would be.
Cheers.

You need the Welsh paint wizard! I don't know if Rich would fix a ding and repaint but he'd be worth whatsapping to see. Ballpark for an entire Les Paul paint job (from bare wood, sanded to 240 grit) is c200-250 plus postage. A telecaster body is about half that. He's incredible value.
I'll pm you his phone number.

Nice one. Cheers. Just spotted your DM, so I'll give him a shout. I'm hoping its something that won't need an entire strip, sand and respray, but I'll be honest, the ding is in the worst possible place. Would probably be quite easy if it was totally in the black bit, but it spans the three colours. But thanks; I'll give Rich a try.

Any thoughts on Juketone cabinets?
I’ve built an Ampmaker WF55 5f1 clone but am cack at cabinet making. I’m thinking about a Juketone cabinet but ideally would like a separate head and speaker set, it doesn’t look like they offer head cabs on their own. Any alternatives worth considering? Alternatively do folks have a view on their 8” 5f1 Champ cab? I’ll probably be using a Jensen P8R.

No experience I’m afraid, but those kits look like amazing value. Kinda tempted. Need to finish the Strat first tho.

Axesrus, Northwest Guitars, WD Music are all pretty good. Are you looking for stock Fender parts?
If you want a really good (albeit not cheap) wiring harness, then take a look at Home of Tone.
Cool shape. I like the tele headstock. Gonna need a tone knob tho.
