  • why would you want to pass a signal through a fucking boss tuner!?

  • Spot the two fuzz boxes, Rob? It makes fuck-all difference... The dirtier, the better in my book...

    #fucksignalpurity

  • Fuzzboxes, pah!

chose the right guitar, right pickups and right amp.

Your heroes never used tuppence ha'penny effects pedals

  • I completely agree... My ideal set-up would be my Tokai LP TV through my Solton 50w head into a 2x10 cab using the Holy Fire as a boost pedal... Wouldn't even need the pedal if I had more than one pick-up, but I don't really like double pick-up guitars...

BTW You still got those guitar stands? Chuck 'em in the van, would ya? I'll grab 'em off you at the track...

  • dream set ups. i used to spend hours daydreaming about the gear i'd buy given the budget.

it usually featured an esquire or sg (with bigsby) though a pair of AC30s... which i'm pretty sure was incorporated into my dessert island live rig after seeing picture of "ghost is born" era jeff tweedy playing live in a small room with this set up.

  • ^ That isn't my dream set-up!?! I'm missing a cab otherwise it would actually be my set up, nice and portable... I'm far too decrepit to lug around my Twin Reverb anymore...

My dream set-up would be a 1960 (or 1957, I change my mind at least twice a week) Les Paul TV going straight into a 50's Tweed Bassman, a Blonde Tolex AC15 and a Selmer Zodiac thru a splitter... No FX, natch... Spare guitars would be a cherry 1959 Epiphone (or Dwight) Coronet (3-a-side headstock), a 1965 Ephiphone Crestwood Deluxe (white, three pick-up, batwing headstock) and a white Travis Bean TB3000...

In a perfect world, of course... ;]

  • Just about to pull the trigger on one of these bad boys... £219?!? Giveaway!

  • ^ that's cool as fuck .

  • coughepiphonecough

    /oh how the mighty...
//nice looking guitar... given up on the ^v^ ?

  • It's actually a re-issue of a mid-60s Epiphone I've been after since I was a teenager... Wayne Kramer used to play a cherry one, Fred 'Sonic' Smith played the posher Crestwood Deluxe which he later sold to Denis Tek of Radio Birdman... Making it one of the most famous guitars in rock 'n' roll...

    Here endeth the lesson...

    #coolstorybro

  • hah! you know if ever this rock n roll gig doesn't work out, there's always going to be a job for you on BBC4 ;)

  • white bodies and rosewood fingerboards = a win everytime.

  • nowt wrong with epiphones catface. not original epi designs anyway. my next guitar is going to be a casino much like this one:

epiphone's budget versions of gibsons are another matter... but you can't deny the coolness of that ^ can you?

  • [/granddadrock]

    you get the idea though.

  • (epiphone)

  • awesome.

I play on 2 epiphones, my rosewood SG copy and my GFs BB king lucille copy and they sound ok with the right amp. (Though a suppose they are the guitar equivalent of a halfords apollo MTB)

  • (Though a suppose they are the guitar equivalent of a halfords apollo MTB)

    nah, that's not true!
something like a stagg or behringer is the apollo mtb of guitars.

  • no they're not! they're perfectly good guitars.

i was just making the distinction between the budget gibson design epi's and the epi only designs. the budget epiphones are great in their own right. i just happen to think a lot of the original epi designs are as cool (or in some cases cooler) than anything gibson or fender ever produced.

    no epi snobbery here!

  • or fender

    never!

i agree with the first part though, definitely.

  • to be fair - i was refering to joe's spurning of the 'phone in an earlier post, but as dooks pointed out - the repro's probably suck donkey cock.

/bass repros tend to be more reliable in this regard.

  • i've always been a tele and fender obsessive but lately i've been really craving a bit of hollow bodied humbuggery. i've now developed a casino fixation.

    edit: that sounds disgusting.

double edit: i've got my acoustical guitfiddle with me again today. i was wondering how much of a c*nt i'd look if i ahem whipped it out and did a little pickin' on the benches outside LMNH whilst enjoying a bath gem and a chat. i was sort of tempted the other day when it was sunny but chickened out. i'm not planning on performing or anything... just a little tinkering. got me thinking about maybe organising some sort of informal-ish folky get together. could be awesome. could also be excruciating. it's a worry.

  • BTW You still got those guitar stands? Chuck 'em in the van, would ya? I'll grab 'em off you at the track...

No but I have some 5 guitar rack thing.

    like this:

    You wan?
