  • I think it looks great myself. Best idea would be to take it in to a shop and see if they notice ;)

Be warned though you'll get market value minus profit minus VAT from a shop, so ebay could be the way to go...

  • This is true... It's a bad time to sell to be honest, especially something like this because despite it being a great guitar and looking/ playing fantastically, being in great condition and being worth quite a bit of money Ibanez don't sell well at the moment... If it were a Fender/ Gibson/ PRS of similar value you'd sell it no problem but Ibanez just don't seem to be selling well at the moment...

Dude, that looks rather nice. It looks to be a very similar layout to the silverface pro reverb (2x6L6s, tube rectifier and 2x12). It's bit more amp than i'm looking for at the moment though just in terms of size/weight.

  • Dude! yeah it is nice. Owned it for 20yrs. You're spot on re the weight tho' tis a beast to lug around!! I have no idea of it's worth as they're sooo hard to find to compare...
Up for grabs though if anyone else is interested.

  • I don't know why but i really like that kramer too. I think it might be because it reminds me of my first (non argos catalogue) guitar and all things pointy of headstock that I aspired to at the time. I really like it!

  • Ha! tis the very reason i bought it for....! it's in amazing condition. 80's rock has a lot to answer for!!!

  • nice amp.

Well the early "second coming" black face amps from the late 70s onwards were identical to the silverfaces as far as I know. I know it's not a direct decendant of the pro reverb but it seems very similar (same compliment of tubes and speakers and similar cab size and power). I bought a late 70s silverface pro-reverb with non-original speakers for £550 a couple of years ago. I sold it for the same amount 18 months later. I would have thought this would be a reasonable ballpark to start in, maybe a bit less as the resurrected blackfaces don't seem to have quite the following the silvers do. I'll check my fender amp nerd book tonight.

The thing with Pro Reverbs (and this too presumably) is that as "new" models introduced in the CBS silverface and later resurected blackface era they don't have that blood line back to the early tweed and blackface designs. Also they don't have any well known users (like Keef and his tweed Twins) to artificially inflate the "mojo" factor and thus value. Which is great if you're buying...

I'll see what the Fender amp book says about it and let you know.

  • Hey sniffy, how much are you looking for for the fender? I got out-bid on a silverface last night :-(

  • I guess see what Dooks' book says.

  • ^have sent you a PM, cheers

  • Yo, just did a quick google, it's a Rivera designed model and would in fact be 2x10, which would make it somewhat smaller and lighter than the pro (40lbs as opposed to 58lbs). I love 10" speakers for guitar too.

Will consult the book for any more info tonight but it won't have up to date values. From another quick trawl they seem to be going for between $400-600 USD. I really don't know what they go for here as you're right, I can't find a completed sale. My best guess would be £350-450?

As ever with these things you could always call Andy Hackett at Angel Guitars:

Tel: 020 7836 8008 andy@angelmusicguitars.com and ask him (he has a copy of the up to date price guide to hand most of the time).

  • Hey Dooks, nice work! a shall give Andy a call in the morning. Thanks for your interest and help.

  • dident andy's go out of business and become music ground?

  • Just had this ESP through the workshop. Came in with a hideous multicolour flame paintjob, shit pickups (one hum, one single in the neck)

So - re route for EMGs and install.
Re-finish in a nice ice white.

    Much more usable!

i do like pure white on a guitar- this reminds me of the michael romeo signature caparison. im not a fan of EMGs as i find them a bit clinical but its a very nice guitar !

  • Want to get nerdy? One of my own creations....

Also, you London chaps. Who is it who owns all of Denmark Street now? It's one of the major shops but I can't remember who...

have you by any chance seen the blackmachine fan fretted 7 and 8 string models? i have met douglas the guy who makes em. very nice chap. they are some of the best electrics around imho...

  • Very nice indeed, reminds me somewhat of Maingard guitars from South Africa... I've started to go away from the bigger bodied acoustics, your 000 looks really nice indeed, I've got one of these as my main acoustic at the moment...

    is that a collings?

I have indeed. I'm working on an electric fanned 7 for a customer at the moment as it happens...

Andy's was apparently good once but for the last 15 years or so it was run by crooked bastards who'd rip you off at every opportunity. Everytime I went in there they'd try and screw me in some way, selling stuff i took in for repair, trying to massively overcharge me, selling stuff i had in there on commission for way over what it was worth etc. My patience with them finally snapped when they sold a couple of guitars belonging to a visiting american friend of mine, didn't pay him then avoided him for months. I eventually got the money off them by turning up mob-handed and demanding it with menaces. They went bust shortly afterwards and yep Music ground moved into their shop.

Andy Hackett runs *Angel *Guitars (not Andy's) and is still in the little unit above what used to be Music Ground. He be sound. Really good bloke.
