• #203

I need 126? spacing (ex road bike) and I was told the axles in fixed hubs are internally tapered so can't be lengthed easily. It's twisting my melon man.
-

You can very easily squeeze them on to a 120 hub
Pretty much all fixed conversions are.You could also get a few spacer nuts if you prefer that.
I'm sure 3mm either side of a 120 hub would allow that... -

So if a halo would work (axle/freewheel) would it be recommended over a formula?
I need to measure my dropouts spacing but it's too cold.
Fuck it, I'm getting a train to London. -

^ £50 a pair. Not bad.

n another note,
I might get some v-brakes and an adapter plate and see if that helps braking.
I was thinking this a while back and noticed recently Cameron has this set-up...whats this adapter plate you speak of?

I think Toddington is onto something. Plus 48 sputniks to BMX front to 48 fix/fix back would be my dream...how wierd is it to ask for these things off siblings for xmas?
"Hi Aidan, what you want for christmas?"
"seems as you ask Kealan, 96 spokes and nipples please." -

I saw those tod, cant make my mind up as to get one yet. Jubilee clips seem a bit of a bodge-job and I am not sure if it would work trying to setup a v-brake and a caliper on the same lever.

you can get u-brake plates too but then need a seatpost clamp with the hook bit to hold the cable.
The plates for those are less obtrusive.I think a v-brake plate will work. Nothing wrong with a bit of jubilee action now and then.
Perhaps we should examine Camerons set-up first... -

dt had a little conversion made up on his old calton... super ted did it for him i think. pretty easy weld jobby.
... those plates are massive!

I agree, I was impressed with the power of Em's rear V-brake last night, would be a good way to go.
Mounting with a plate on the inside of the stays like Cam makes it less likely to get trashed by a mallet/bike.

josh thats an awesome find...£50... be slightly worried about the massive cog torque threading the hub story, an oldy but a goodie.
I remember a while back when i was considering a on one pomp... perfect for that kinda set-up.

I was really impressed with Gabes' brakes too. In fact, they were so good that i kept sliding forward off the saddle almost leaving the bike behind me every time i tried to slow down.

I was thinking this a while back and noticed recently Cameron has this set-up...Todd, I though to go this option too before I put the double brake system, and I'm glad I went for the doube at the end. yes the V-brake has more power but you will be still skidding, no stoppping earlier.

I have some awesome polo gloves... Cheap...

I just want my brake to work as best as possible. I don't mind the skidding...
