  • I understand this and there is probably an aspect of user error but there was also the error on their behalf selling me the wrong product. This is what has annoyed me.

  • but you didn't notice? Sorry but I still don't get it and I'm not just defending TF, but I picked a wheel up from there last week and on principle checked it throughout

  • dcm has a point. what would TFG do if the hub has not bust but user has noticed hub is not as described after use....

  • Unfortunately I did not inspect the thread on the second side because I didn't think system ex even made fixed/free hubs.

  • things like that can be missed. it is not the customers responsiblity to make sure it is all correct surely. if you're a novice and you buy something from a store with a good rep you trust you are buying what you ask/paying for. did you pay for fixed fixed or fixed free finally?

  • not saying you are a novice, just making a point.

I can also see TFG point of view as they did not install cog n lockring so user fault does come into play.

  • I ordered fixed/fixed. This is the only version they have on their site:

    http://www.tokyofixedgear.com/products/108-Wheel-Sets/5503-H-Plus-Son---Wheel-Set-SL42--Formation-Face--System-Ex---Black/

And yes if they hadn't sold me the wrong product I would completely understand them not replacing it but the point is... If they had sold me what I paid for; I would not need to replace it.

  • Sounds like you have a point dcm.

For balance: just had great comms with the guys at TFG on some parts I need replacing on something I bought from them a while ago. Problem satisfactorily resolved by Jacob. Good customer service all round.

  • I believe I do have a point. And I totally agree with the point you made @markairsy1. Regardless of how experienced someone is, if you spend £270 pounds and are sent the wrong product the company should accept responsibility. I didn't think that TFG were one of those companies who have the attitude of once they have your money you don't mean anything to them. Certainly wont be buying from them again which is a shame as previously I had trusted them as a quality dealer with a good rep.

  • I'd have another go at talking with them about it if i were you. depending on who you spoke to and the mood they were in, can also affect the outcome*. I know it shouldnt but it does..

*not specific to TFG but retail in general when dealing with independants or smaller companies without rigerous customer service guidleines in place.

and to concur with wrongcog, I have never had any issues with them and will visit the store whenever i am in London.

  • I have just spoken with Roy from TFG and the issue has been resolved. Thought it was only fair to let this be known on the forum.

  • Apologies for the error on that one DMC.

Defiantly a mix up on our part sending out a fixed/free instead of fixed/fixed. We tend not to even order Fixed/free hubs so I'm not quite sure how what happened!

As for the threads stripping, it's really hard to be sure of the cause without seeing the hub, cog and lock ring used, but I can assure you the correct items installed properly will never slip. If you'd like us to install a cog for you before we send out a replacement wheelset (if we haven't already) please let us know.

  • I am being sent a new hub which I will have installed up here (Manchester). Appreciate your reply @Jammy!

  • Some of you might have noticed, but our webshop has been down for a bit. We've been reworking the back end and touching the whole thing up*. Anyway the new website is live now, so check it out.

If you've got any problems feel free to get in touch with me or Jammy on here, or via the usual routes.

  • I didnt know you worked at TF Mechamorgan for some reason i thought you were from the north?? what do you do

  • Been on the site a few hours ago and found I couldn't click through to some pages, once i was on product specific pages, ie - i could onky see first page of a category, site just buffered when going through to 2nd or 3rd page etc.

I've not been working there very long, 4 months or so. I started riding fixed when I was studying in Manchester, but I'm from Bath and about as southern as you get, dahling. I do pretty much anything website related, at the moment!

We've been having a bit of cache trouble since the site has gone up, which is probably what's causing that. Hopefully it will resolve itself in a few hours; thanks for the feedback.

Ahhh! Are you a magent dev then? I work for the company that originally had the project i only joined them just before they moved though!

  • What an overhaul! It looks ace! Much more user friendly. Nice work :-)

  • I thought I was being an arrtard the other day when I couldn't figure out how to buy something then I saw the banner!

    New site looks great.

  • just adding my compliments, site is much easier to navigate, looks nicer as well.

  • Liking the new website. One thing that could improve it, on the drop down list for "Bikes" could you add "Track Bikes" and "Road Bikes", rather than having to go back to the home page and use the links there.

  • Hint of reddish pink to the theme.
