Think that pic is playing tricks on everyone's eyes. Bb looks low compared to rear axle. Sure it's fine. Just looks odd in the pic.

Wondered if anyone can compare the TFG S2 frame with a Surly Steamroller? I am riding the latter and are looking for something more nimble. The S2 looks sweet apart from the clearance of the fork with reminds me of the Steamroller.
Let me know your experiences :) The seat-tube angle is steeper, the BB drop is 10mm and the fork rake is 3mm less - don`t know if this makes the bike much more agile but I hope so :)

Seat tube angle make little difference apart from increasing the theoretical top tube.
If you like the S2, go for it.

But do you think the other differences will affect the handling of the bike in the wanted manner?

^Get in touch with the guys in the shop directly and ask. They're a friendly and knowledgable bunch in my experience.

some people like to be more above the bb, because they feel it offers a better power transmission, so not that little difference - or at least very personal.
that was like.. your opinion, ed. -

A difference that you can feel if your wheel is 5mm closer to the seat tube?
-

who cares. you can compensate with saddle position.

I bought a formation face/system ex wheel set from TFG just recently. Last night my brother (who is a bike mechanic) assembled the sprocket and lock ring as he is stronger than myself and has better tools. I took the bike out for the first time and noticed the cog slipped immediately. I got off the bike walked back to my brothers house and the lock ring had completely shredded the thread. Now although this seems to be poor design/craftsmanship on system ex's part, TFG had sold the wheelset as fixed/fixed when the hub was in fact fixed/free, which obviously means I can't flip it. When I called up to ask if the hub could be replaced they said they there was nothing they could do even though they had sold me the wrong product and that was the end of the conversation and my money down the drain. Pretty appalled with the customer service and surprised that they were totally reluctant to replace a product they had sold with incorrect specification.

what kind of bike mechanic didn't notice he was putting a lockring on freewheel threads?
sounds like you're at fault to be honest.
-
• #673
sounds more like he put the cog on too much and stripped the threads.

He didn't put it on the free side.

oh my bad... still sounds like user error though, I always carry a lockwhip with me if I'm riding a newly installed cog, and tighten the lockring down after a mile or so if needed
what pedals strike? my Dream Machine have a BB of 265mm (similar to touring bike) with 30c tyres, and I have yet to get caught out.
even less with clipless pedals.
