Right, I got some Rapha vouchers for Christmas. Do they update their products yearly or seasonal? If so, when is that and is it their whole range at once? Seeing as I don't need/want anything right now, I might as well wait for when some new stuff comes out.
Oh God, listen to me, what have I become?

A tart? :P
They do a spring/summer range and an autumn/winter range. The former is normally released around the end of March.

Andy - you're calling him a tart, what with you rather in-depth knowledge of Rapha's collections and release dates....

did anyone see this weeks QI and the little section on premium pricing
one definition of which is
" practice in which a product is sold at a price higher than that of competing brands to give it snob appeal through an aura of " exclusivity " "
they said that nike actually set up a range of very expensive trainers £150+ ( no better than their £80 range ) just to appeal to those people who wear things just to ... well i guess there is no other way to put it ... show off
Q-uite I-nteresting I thought

they're spot on about that, especially when Nike is known for their sweatshop that's still going on, making shoes that cost less than a tenner and sell it for £150 making a massive profit.
what other reason is there for them being so big? capitalism at it's finest.
-
• #2361
It's not a new thing guys. In Economics they are known as ostentatious goods, an anomaly where demand increases as price does.
-
• #2362
but are they happy on the inside, thats what I want to know

• #2363
Welcome to the other half.

• #2364
I was talking to a bloke who work at Rapha and he said the price are usually high because not just the exclusivity, but to prevent stock from selling out too quickly, he also mentioned that Rapha has been quite big worldwide and are quite hard to keep up with the demand.

what an odd business strategy
they should drop prices by 25% and manufacture 50% more
now i'm not the best at maths maybe tommy could help me here but that would mean cheaper more and better customer satifaction NON ?

those trainers are no different to a cinelli mash. a willing doe-eyed market ready to splash the cash and a manufacturer ready to capture the hipster zeitgeist.

The worse thing is, once they tested the water on 1000 frames, they let the flood gates open.
