  • Spotted a lightly modified merino hoodie on one of the Maximoff twins for most of the new Avengers film.

  • How stable is it? And can you fit a MacBook Air?

  • quick question regarding vouchers, is there any way to combine them? Wife wanted to buy something for me and wanted to combine the 15% LBL voucher with 30€ voucher she still got. Any idea?

  • Really stable. I have shimmed the clamps with some old inner tube and it is rock solid.

Easily get a macbook air and shoes and suit trousers and and lots more.

  • Add the -15% discount with your buy and then contact support with your 30euro voucher and they will refund the 30 euros when your order is dispatched. At least thats what happened when I was in a similar situation.

  • Has anyone tried the pack jacket?

  • I find that having so much weight attached to the bike that high up makes the bike handle really strangely - I expect you'd get used to that pretty quickly though.

  • thanks george... why making things easy, if you can make them complicate :-) Using 2 codes would be so much easier...

  • I'm sure I got a code when I had a voucher and that allowed me to combine vouchers online in one go. Maybe that was a voucher from a refund, but seems odd that you have not got a code from purchasing a voucher directly.

  • the voucher she got is from a refund... so might be, you can use a discount voucher with bought voucher but not with a refund one?

  • Just call them and order over the phone.

  • good idea, never did that in the past cause we are not living in GB.

  • Yes out of the saddle can be a bit odd when it is fully loaded. But for commuting weight it's fine.

  • The eBay seller of these 'fixed gear stickers' has only really nailed one of them

  • Is the race cape worth it? I'll be riding on mountains a fair bit in summer and so want a proper water and wind proof shell that can actually fit into a back pocket...

  • Yep, though the rain jacket does a pretty similar job.

  • Its not one of those jackets that squash down to the size of an orange, but it will just about fit in a jersey pocket. Totally wind and waterproof, and fairly breathable.

  • Can't compare to the race cape, but my rain jacket is the best money I have spent on any cycling item.

  • Having owned both I would opt for the Race Cape every time, it is more fitted and the zip cuffs give a little breathable touch to the arms. The Velcro fastener on the front is great for descending when it isn't so cold, the more fitted form also flaps about less than the rain jacket. I took version one of the Cape to the Alps two years ago and it performed well, I shall be taking V2 with me this year.
I would say that a wind jacket is a bit of a must for mountain riding for me, fits in the jersey easily and performs well on descents.
The black version of the Race Cape looks awesome too.

  • Thanks all for the race cape feedback.

I have the 15% off code, but it still works out at £165... a lot of dough for something that may not get all that much use. But I am concerned that, as a waif, long wet mountain descents are likely to prevent me getting over another climb as my muscles stop in the cold. I'm just not sure if one of those superlight pack jackets will do the job (I have an old castelli sotille)

How's the fit of them? I have a small PT jacket and PT jersey and both are good fits.

So @clem-fandango, what happened to v1!?! If you happen to have a V1 in small cluttering your wardrobe I'll happily do a forumunger a favour!

  • Be optimistic you will have nice weather. You still will need a newspaper for descending. Or a gilet. I use this.

  • Yeh, optimism is a good way to saave me £165!

I've got a gilet and a very old one of the below, both of which are pocket-squeezeable, just not sure if they're sturdy enough to keep me warm for a super long and potentially wet descent

  • A rain jacket will help a bit, but if it's wet and cold then no item of clothing will keep you warm on a long descent apart from full winter kit.

    You have to compromise.

  • If you would just listen!
Get a Carradice and carry all the jackets.

  • From last year experience yes get a rain jacket if only to keep you dry, two days and one day @andyp compromise.

Lotto wore the Vermarc Extreme rain jacket at this years Milan San Remo which seems good reviews and £80.
