Anyone want to try some 28mm tyres? Had to downsize to 25 for new bike so pair of Duranos need a home. £10 in SW11.

Thoughts on commuting tires that can handle trails, with the occasional muddy section (eg Thames path, Wimbledon common)? Priorities are 1) puncture protection 2) quick rolling 3) ok off road.
Was looking at panaracer paselas (tan walls might look cool with brown pompino frame), but have also found vittoria randonneurs for £9... Any thoughts? 28mm or 32mm? Have previously used gators and ultra sport for on road only use and been happy with the results.
Thanks

Rivendell Jack Brown? Grand Bois?
They're supposed to roll quickly, randonneurs don't.

Hmm they look pretty cool but are super expensive. Thanks for the tip about randonneurs, will avoid if they are slowwww. Just found paselas for a bargainous £12 at Kinoko so maybe I should opt for those. Mixed reviews though.

I've got Paselas....28front 25 back
Postives: super grippy especially in the wet, feel very stable descending on bad roads
Can see them lasting a long time lot of tread on them
I haven't had any ... (yet!)
Good winter training tyres due to the negatives!Negatives: Not in any way quick add approx 1min per lap on Richmond park lap compared to four seasons.
High rolling resistance means they are tiring to ride long distance
In short they are proper winter tyres so just need to know what to expect.

One minute off of a lap, you sure about that?

I changed from 28 randonneurs to paselas after about a year on the commuter. The pasellas felt far better under my incredible mass of 85 on 80psi. Both ride and grip.
I've sort of put it down to the difference in sidewall stiffness, the vittorias were like hose pipe compared to the softer panas

Nothing to do with you not being in your form?

Well. A very very slow puncture yesterday, about four hours, by the tiniest piece of metal lodged in the front Four Season after 1000km. There is not even a cut in the tyre.
-
• #489
They do get pierced quite easily, bit annoying as they're grippy tyres.
-
• #490
4 season user here too, they cut up way too fast, now i understand what everyone meant.
-
• #491
The tyre not being cut and pierced only by a special anti Four Seasons agent was the point I was making.

Another p*&#ture on 4seasons tonight. Total of 3 (2 rear, 1 front). Had them since new and installed them in start of December. Not impressed. Thought they are the toughest Cuntinental has.

Just checked Wiki what Vectran is
Chemically it is an aromatic polyester
The fuck?
-
• #495
Did you buy them where you buy your beer when you drink at Easts? Not surprised.
-
• #496
And they are not supposed to be used on fixies. It says in the manual.

Just checked Wiki what Vectran is
The fuck?I used to use Vectran bowstrings.
"There might still be spools of Kevlar lying around in some bowhunter’s cupboards, but they should not be used as they have a relatively short lifespan (even when new) and have a tendency to break without warning."

The only thing made in Germany that breaks is Meissner when you drop it.
