  • Panaracer Gravelkings look pretty good. Claimed to be 267g for 28c. Available in 23c and 26c, as well.

  • Escalators in Berlin were busted. Tut tut.

  • Anyone wants to buy a pair of 4seasons or swap for > or = 25mm Duranos? ;)

  • Call new tyres gravel king, actually add a 23mm which isn't big enough on gravel.

  • Not sure how adding a file tread pattern turns a tyre into a gravel king. 50% of my riding is on gravelly/stony fire roads and single track and I have never noticed any grip from any smoothish tyre on a loose gravel surface.

Maybe I need to try these magical kings of gravel.

  • Thread look decent for gravel, just the tiny size seemed a bit of an oxymoron.

  • Call new tyres gravel king, actually add a 23mm which isn't big enough on gravel.

It's "gravel racing" not gravel audax/touring.

  • Anyone know what those RiBMo PTs are like compared to Durano or Durano Plus?

  • I find it grip similar to Gatorskins (i.e. not well in the wet), but less likely to get cut up.

  • Panaracer's new "gravel king" tyres look like they're rebranded Tourer Plus Brevet Editions to me except they don't have the brown sidewalls. Weights and composition are exactly the same however.
Actually, Panaracer do lots of OEM work for smaller brands over here too, Grand Bois being one example.

Here's some Panaracer Tourer Plus OEMs in a different colour scheme

  • Marathon Supremes 28c for £23 free shipping is a bargain

  • Would you be able to help with a seasonal question?

Which wet weather / puncture-protecting tyre?
    Currently considering 'Conti-Gator-Hardshell' or 'Schwalbe-Durano-Plus'
(700x25s / ss rather than fixed)
Need something that will keep the glass / flint out in this wet weather!

    Any views appreciated - ta.

  • Gators are useless in the wet.

  • ta dry

useless- grip or useless- puncture resistance?

I used to have 26'' gators (not-hards) that were pretty good in the wet as far as I can remember.

  • Four Seasons. Just under 2000km in nearly two months. One very slow puncture in the front which I could ride on for a few hours.

  • Yeah Ive seen those.
Difficult to tell which are supposed to be the best protected 4-seasons or Gator-hards.
Ive good experience of Conti and Schwalbe generally so probably one of those

  • 4 seasons is better in the wet, a lots better than Gators that's for sure.

But then again, Rubino Pro is also just as good and cheaper.

  • that's interesting, hadn't thought of those.
Do you know if they have a good rep for punctures?

  • It have a bad rep for punctures because it's quite good at resisting it.

  • While this thread is active, what's a good 25mm tyre for someone who likes Maxxis Refuse?

I have purchased the '25mm' Refuse and can confirm that they are, indeed, 23mm.

  • 28mm maxxis refuses ;)

  • skidding? puncture resistance? grip?

  • Fox, pretty much the Rubino Pro really.

  • thanks eds

that's the kind of rep I like.
Do you mean the 'Rubino-Pro-Tech' over the 'Rubino-Pro'?

    • Tech is marketed as harder-wearing / winter / wet tyre.
  • Having now put over 100 miles on my 32c Grand Bois Cyprès, I can quite easily say they're the nicest tyres I've ever ridden. Incredibly low rolling resistance, so cushy and just a real pleasure to ride. Thanks Scoble.
