  • Michelin Lithion 2s. Been riding all variations since the OG Lithions, then Pro 3s through to 4s for years, picked up some of these thinking the new tread would be good for winter, but fuck me if they aren't the hardest to get on the rims. Pinched/ruined no less than 3 tubes getting them on. Any tips from the LFGSS brain farm?

  • Stop using a tyre lever and use stronger thumbs?

You could try fitting the tyre only first to let it stretch a bit, say overnight, then try it with a tube.

  • Cheers @hippy As a drummer, I have thumbs of steel; even they seem no match for this rubbery French beast. Will try the overnight trick, but never seemed to have as much hassle getting any Michelins on as this lot.

  • You using particularly thick rim tape? What rims are they? Campag and confidential were a tight combo.

  • Campag and confidential were a tight combo.

what are these need to know only tyres? and what the fuck were you doing with campag?

  • "Cunti" autocorrected on the mobile. Trust Conti to fail, even in writing.

  • A week of commuting and a longer ride through Kent and Surrey on the s-one's and I think I can now make some judgement as to their suitability for the particular task for which I procured them (cobble bashing at roubaix).

Overall, I think they'll do the trick, but even running them tubeless at 48/53 psi they are just not as supple as a race tyre+latex tube. They're mounted to novatec thirtys with a 25mm wide run.

Positives are: mounted first time no problems, great grip, tubeless, iron out the worst hits from crap surfaces. They are quite heavy as you'd expect, but I'm hoping the extra sturdy construction will get me through the rest of winter and p-r without picking up tread / sidewall gashes etc.

  • Vittoria Pave CG Open 27c Y/N?

(it's for commuting over shite roads)

  • Yessssssss

They cut up a bit but they're super tough, but still grippy and fairly fast.

  • how did i mis that!? bike24? what is the rim width and how wide are they coming again? I thought you were going to go with G-ones.

  • I'm going to be controversial and say no. Think it depends how many miles you want out of them....

Mine only lasted about 1k before the cuts made the ride really bad and started to worry the tyre would fail altogether. They feel like a summer tyre to start. Four season never feel that great but keep riding with loads of cuts, glass stuck in them.

  • So that's a yes and a no but a consensus that they cut up badly. Any A/B comparisons with the Schwalbe Kojacks?

  • Spendy for a commuter tyre. Don't see the point. Durability > everything else. Who wants to be late for the office birthday fucker's cake because they're mending a p_nct_re?

  • 1100mi on kojaks with no p******e

  • What's your commuter tyre of choice? Must be available in all black ponce

  • No pancake? Me neither.

Loved Maxxis Re-Fuse the last time I had a set and they seem to be reappearing on websites, any reason not to go for another set? They're not all that cheap, annoyinglu bike24 have no 25s and I can't fit 28s. Any alternatives to consider? Want something in 25c, puncture resistant that still rolls well but not too spendy

  • I've been running the same pair of Durano Plus on the Kinesis for a few years now. The rear was fully squared off so I removed it for a bit but then thought again and put it back on to see how much life i could get out of it. They're stupidly long lasting. I think Durano might be all black - I had one of them on the training bike for many miles and might put them on again when I wear out the Rubino Pro that's about to give up on it.

So, I swap between Durano Plus, Durano, Rubino Pro and occasionally Mich Pro 4 Endurance for commuting and the MTB when the Kinesis is out of action.

  • I'll measure how wide they come up when I get home. They're on a 25mm rim (outer).

I bought them from JRA for ยฃยฃยฃs when bike24 didn't have stock. As soon as I took them out of the packet they came in stock at bike24. Nevermind.

  • some shitty phone pics too if you can
    ta

  • Gravel king 26mm. 1000 miles on mine and the file pattern is still 95% intact. No flats. No nicks. No cuts. Roll nicely. Not pave nicely but nicer than duranos

  • The Durano Plus that I just took off the rear of my fixed gear was square as all hell and the centreline was more blue than black, had gone right through to the protective layer underneath. I'm not a skidder, that's just from riding.

  • Yeah mine is showing blue la dee deee la di daa Still works so I'm going to keep it on for now.

  • I was starting to wheelspin on drain covers, so thought I best swap it out. Still no punctures though!
