  • No, I mean shorts with padding to wear under normal clothes. Her only cycling is on family jaunts with me and our daughter.

I have to say for short journies (sp? doesn't look right...anyway) I swear by M&S seam free ladies shorts - £10 for 3 pairs here: http://www.marksandspencer.com/Perfect-VPL-Low-Rise-Shorts/dp/B000WLY0PS

Perfectly fine for my 10 mile each way commute and I've even spent all day larking about and doing something stupid like 60 miles in them in a day (with breaks)

  • Poots, did you find the tights you were looking for when you posted ^^ ? I am looking for something similar.

Also looking for recommendations for shorts that are snug round the ass without slicing me in two at the thigh. Bibs pref or ones with really comfy waist. Is it worth splashing out on some?

(Off on training camp end of Feb; hoping it'll be short weather)

  • almac68 - a certain person has sold a kidney to pay for purchases :-).

  • Yeah but it's called 'clever shopping. Buy now when it's cheaper and get it presented on the day. A bit like early Crimbo shopping :-).

  • I haven't got the patience for that!

  • Drip feed? One a month? Work with me here! :-)

  • Damn it! I can't believe I missed the sale. :( I wanted to get one of the rain jackets as well.

  • Look at it this way, the money you save by not going Rapha, you can spend on your bike! Besides, skin is waterproof, it won't rain much this year and so on and so forth :-)

  • I'll be popping down to swrve headquarter's in brixton next week to try and hopefully buy some shorts for the summer.
    Anyone fancy coming along?

  • I'd like to come along, depending on day and time!

  • Me and Lola are considering going there on monday after work before south drinks.
I'm not sure though when Chris is back in his office (he's away this week) - i said i'll give him a ring on monday to see if he's around.
I'll drop you a pm once we know when we're going.

  • I thought Swrve had stopped making the ladies shorts range. I have the ladies capri shorts (they're great) but have been told that they've stopped making them, which is a real shame!

  • well, they don't do ladies anymore as they were not selling very well
apparently they were selling more mens trousers to women than ladies specific

i've tried two different styles of mens in condor and they fit nicely as they are quite stretchy

i'd like to try cigarette shorts and couple of others that i couldn't find in shops and that's why i'm planning to visit swrve

  • That's really interesting! It hadn't occured to me to try the mens ones, I just assumed that the fit would be a bit weird, but I will definitely give them a go. :)

I've been so frustrated with the lack of nice cycling shorts for riding around in I've embarked on a sewing project of my own, just so that I have something that's comfy to wear on the bike...

Hope that you get some good stuff down at Swrve!

  • Thanks Ada.

  • Post work monday you say? Trip to C&H after you say? I could be in for some of that action!

  • I wear the mens wwr shorts, they are ace and super comfy! Too hot for summer unfortunately though! haha. I'm usually too big for girls stuff though, so I don't really have a comparison!

  • I have 2 pairs of the mens skinny 3/4s, after recommendations further up this thread, and they're a brilliant fit. I was a bit worried about them being odd being cut for men, but the stretchiness (sp?) makes a real difference.

  • Hopefully the mens shorts/trousers will fit me, apart from the length.

  • ooh wish I was in London, I'd love to try a few on. What sizes are people and what sizes did they go for in the mens? I'm worried about the waist being too big to accommodate for my hips/thighs!

  • ^^ That's my main concern, which is why it takes me an age to find jeans that fit my legs and doesn't gape too much at the waist due to my shapely derriere :-).

  • Some of you know my friend/teamie Anna, who designs AnaNichoola stuff. I'm helping her promote her gloves, which I've been racing in so far this season. She's got some girlie-girl ones and some endurance riding ones. Please check them out and show your support, she's worked really hard on designing them, and testing the prototypes for ages to make them work. I wear mine all the time and love them.

I have the neck warmer, the arm warmers and winter gloves.

I am very impressed with the quality and details.

The neck warmer is tight around the next and wide to completely cover the neck front and back and a bit on the top of the shoulder. The gloves sleeves are really long so no more gap between the jacket and arm (I battled trying to find gloves like that) and I'm going to give the arm warmers a try this week, I don't think they will roll down my arms as the xs men size tend to do for me. And of course, everything is pretty.

Anna is getting her spring products next week. Well worth checking and nice to support her hard work.

  • Long planned visit to swrve is happening tonight.
If anyone is free around 5.30 and fancy coming along give me a shout.
