Andy - i clean it regularly, and have cleaned it all again in the hope of the click mysteriously disappearing, but no joy.
Brett - i like the WD40 idea, much more up my street!
I hope the WD40 was a joke, keep that shit away from your bottom bracket. Its not a lubricante and will just make the problem worse.

@nimbles, all bottom brackets have their own spanner. there is quite a few different types.
could alo be a loose chainring bolt, i know you said where you thought it might come from, but you never can really tell. and don't listen to all thee other donkey's they know nuffink.
hippy's first choice sounds good, bring it to west's and i'll give it a good shoe-in.

I've got most of the standard bb tools so if you can identify which bb it is I can bring the tool along to Wests (should you decide that's the place you want to service it).

Had a feeling someone would be along saying that. How come it helped my situation then, to the extent that my BB went from screaming to silent, and has been so for a couple of months ever since?

wd40 is a water dispersant, and also breaks down grease. = not good.
-
• #507
I would come to wests, but it's a very long way... my LBS will service the BB for less than the train ticket and buying Murtle drinks all night!

What BB is it?

-
• #512
i'm willing and happy to upgrade, someone recommend one to fit the frame and my 75s?
-
• #513
you should NOT have a shimano in there, ISO not JIS> bad form from the shop. it should be either a campy or better a phil.
UTFS
transmission data base, see which components you have then bo/ bracket selecta.

Why does the threading matter? Campag BBs are widely available in both English and Italian.
Take the BB out and look for either letters BSA/English/British or ISO/Italian.
The important factor is the taper. with Sugino 75's, you'll want an ISO taper BB spindle.

CHECK YOUR PEDALS! mine do that 4 times per revolution. . . i should really get round to buying some more spds. . .
-
• #524
yes, sounds good, but what threading is it?
Measure the width of the bb shell. If it's 68 mm wide it's English threaded and if it's 70 mm then it's Italian.

i've tried a few things - I rebuilt the eggbeater pedals, as it needed doing, no joy.
